  • Why should a sadhak never curse anyone?

Question – Gurudev, why should a sadhak never curse anyone?

Gurudev Sri Sri – Whatever work we want to do, do it with good intentions. Nobody’s curse can affect you if your heart is pure. If your heart is impure then surely it will have an influence. Do not blame the world or curse the people around you. They are all a part of God’s wonderful creation. Everything here has a purpose, and everything here is to make you stronger – be it, friends or enemies. When people don’t live up to your expectations, you get frustrated and you blame or curse them. By cursing, you lose your spiritual energy. When you bless, your energy goes up. Your own experience tells you time and time again that expectations reduce your enjoyment of life. Yet, most of us do not even realise, having too many expectations about everything, could be a reason for not being naturally happy. By cursing, you lose your spiritual energy. When you can bless, your energy goes up. When you are full, the need to give curse never arises, it may happen in those who feel some lack. Speech is a big power. Our words are there to bless people, bring peace in the world never curse. Weigh your words before you speak them out. They are pearls of your life. Don’t lose them for nothing. Do not blame the world or curse the people around you. They are all a part of God’s wonderful creation. Everything here has a purpose, and everything here is to make you stronger – be it, friends or enemies.
  • I tend to hurt people whom I love and push them away. Why do I do so? I am scared of love now.

Question – Gurudev, I tend to hurt people whom I love and push them away. Why do I do so? I am scared of love now.

Gurudev Sri Sri – Listen, these patterns will change, don’t be scared. If you love somebody, serve them. Don’t latch on to them, don’t police them. Be centered. You go and tell someone, love you, I love you, I love you’. They say, ‘Yes, okay’ But then what will they do? They don’t know how to respond, so they feel like running away from there. We should not express our love too much. If you express your love too much, the person to whom you express doesn’t know how to handle it. If they are enlightened and centered, they can smile and they can take it. If they are not enlightened, they don’t know how to handle the love. Like people don’t know how to handle anger and hatred, they also don’t know how to handle love. This is the reason why many times people run away. So, you should be very measured in your expression of love. Got it? See in the west, they express love too much. And in the east, they don’t express love at all. So it should be somewhere in the middle. You can’t bury a seed deep in the soil, it will never sprout. In the same way, you can’t keep the seed on top of the soil, it won’t sprout there either. You should take a little mud and sow the seed close to the surface, then it sprouts. Love is also the same. Don’t express it too much and be centered. Always remember that you are love.
  • How important is having faith in life?

Question – Gurudev, how important is having faith in life?

Gurudev Sri Sri – You cannot exist without faith. Listen, suppose you have come here in a car and you have parked the car in the parking area. Now when you are sitting here you have faith that the car will be there when you go back, isn’t it?! So, without this faith can you exist? No, first of all, you should have faith in yourself. There are three types of faith which are important :
    1. Faith in yourself. If you do not have faith in yourself it is called paranoia. It is a disease.
    2. Faith in the goodness of people around you. There are good people in the world, you should have that faith, otherwise you cannot move one inch in society.
    3. Faith in the unknown, faith in the abstract power which seems to be running everything. That is the third type of faith. So, of these three faiths, the first two are very essential, the third will make life much better.
  • I want to come to you when you are passing by but there is so much crowd. If I am not running to you, does that mean I don’t have devotion and love?

Question – Gurudev, I want to come to you when you are passing by but there is so much crowd. If I am not running to you, does that mean I don’t have devotion and love?

Gurudev Sri Sri – You don’t have to copy anyone else’s expression or behaviour. Wherever you are, I know your heart, I think sometimes better than you do. So you don’t need to worry about anything. You be relaxed and keep smiling and just ‘be’, that’s all. Keep doing what you need to do, and if you feel like coming to me, just come, no problem. My car goes quite slow and stops. I have no control over my journey as well! If someone comes, I have to stop. I have never ignored any person and gone. It’s not in my nature. I attend to people, as much as I can physically, but otherwise, I do attend to people in other ways too. Other ways are also there. No need for elaborating these things. Some things we should not elaborate, this is one of them. There are many ways you can connect with each other in the subtle. So your smile is good enough. And if you feel like communicating something, you are most welcome. Write it down, send it to me.
  • Who visit the Tirupati temple donate their hair as offering at the shrine. Also, in India there is a tradition of shaving off one's head when a dear one passes away. Why is this so, and what does shaving off one's head have to do with our mind and our actions?

    Question – Gurudev, devotees

who visit the Tirupati temple donate their hair as offering at the shrine. Also, in India there is a tradition of shaving off one’s head when a dear one passes away. Why is this so, and what does shaving off one’s head have to do with our mind and our actions?
Gurudev Sri Sri – This is more of a conventional norm that has become a tradition over the years. It is not prescribed as mandatory by our scriptures anywhere. There are two aspects to any ritual in India. One is that prescribed as a norm or a social convention, the other is that which is mentioned and prescribed elaborately in our scriptures, which becomes tradition and for which the scriptures also narrate the benefits of practicing that particular ritual
or practice. For example, many people wear collared T-shirts. Why is the collar there and what is its purpose? In winters, in the foreign countries, people fold the collar up and protect themselves from the cold, and in the summers, people loosen the collar so they feel a little cool. The English began this, and slowly everyone else adopted the same style. So it is just a custom, that’s all. There is nothing more to it.
  • For how long will this leela continue?

Question – Gurudev, for how long will this leela continue?

Gurudev Sri Sri – Now that is hard to tell. No one knows for certain when it started, and so no one knows when it will end. As long as you are a part of this leela, just enjoy yourself. When we land up in a problem that is when we ask, ‘When will this end?’ But when we are having fun or enjoying ourselves, we never question, ‘When will the enjoyment end?’ Do we do that? No. So when life appears burdensome and a bondage, only then do we think to ourselves, ‘When will we be free from this?’ Do not think that you will become free sometime in the future. You are free this very moment. Just take this for granted and move ahead. All this is just a game and events keep happening. Many thoughts come and go in the mind. You would be surprised at the kind of thoughts that come to your mind. You become so nervous due to some thoughts of your mind. But you should know that thoughts come and go. So it does not carry any meaning. We are far greater than our thoughts. So just know this and relax.
  • It is said that whatever had to be said has already been said, but the point is, have people heard it? Is this why so many enlightened masters have to come again and again. How to make sure this time people listen.

Question – Gurudev, it is said that whatever had to be said has already been said, but the point is, have people heard it? Is this why so many enlightened masters have to come again and again. How to make sure this time people listen.

Gurudev Sri Sri – A farmer knows the answer to this question very well. See, what does a farmer do? He takes the seeds, ploughs the field and then throws the seeds. Some seeds sprout and some don’t. He does not worry and think, Oh, this seed has not sprouted, that has sprouted.’ He just puts the seed and whichever sprouts, sprouts, and whichever doesn’t, it doesn’t. Usually most of the seeds sprout if it has been ploughed properly. And if the farmer has sown the seed at the right time, it does grow. That is what we should all do. Don’t worry about how many will reach the goal and how many will not. You do your job. A musician simply sings, he doesn’t see how many people are listening. If someone is playing the flute or the sitar, there is no guarantee that everybody sitting in the audience are keenly listening to the music. Some may even doze off while the music is playing. That is their prerogative.
  • What is the significance of Ramayan?

Question – Gurudev, what is the significance of Ramayan?

Gurudev Sri Sri – The Ramayan is not just a story which happened long ago, it has a philosophical, spiritual significance and a deep truth in it. The words ‘rays’ and ‘radiance’ come from the Sanskrit root word ‘ra’. ‘Ra’ means light, ‘Ma’ means within me, in my heart. So, Ram means the light within me. That which is radiant in every particle of the being is Ram. Ram was born to Dasharath and Kousalya. Dasharath means ‘Ten Chariots’. The ten chariots symbolise the five sense organs and five organs of action. Kousalya means ‘skill’. The skillful rider of the ten chariots can give birth to Ram. When the ten are used skillfully, radiance is born within. Ram was born in Ayodhya. Ayodhya means ‘a place where no war can happen’. When there is no conflict in our mind, then the radiance can dawn. The Ramayan is not just a story which happened long ago, it has a philosophical, spiritual significance and a deep truth in it. It is said that the Ramayan is happening in your own body. Your soul is Ram, your mind is Sita, your breath or life force (prana) is Hanuman, your awareness is Laxmana and your ego is Ravan. When the mind was stolen by Ravan (the ego) then the soul got restless. Now the soul cannot reach the mind on its own, it has to take the help of the breath – the prana. With the help of the prana, the mind got reunited with the soul, and the ego vanished.
  • If God is everywhere, why are we told to pray in the prayer room only?

Question – Gurudev, if God is

everywhere, why are we told to pray in the prayer room only?
Gurudev Sri Sri – You can pray anywhere, but if you sit and pray in one room you make the vibrations very nice. You can eat anywhere, you can eat in the verandah, you can eat sitting in the drawing room. But there is a dining hall where you sit on the table, and there is water, there is everything, isn’t it? Like that, when you eat, you have a place to eat. So it is nice to keep a place to sit and pray also. You can sleep in the living room, you can sleep on the sofa, why do you only go to the bedroom to sleep? Because there is some arrangement. Similarly, in the pooja room there is a little arrangement. There is a lamp burning, there are some flowers kept and you can sit there and do your prayers.
  • How to control emotions in times of crisis?

Question – Gurudev, how to control emotions in times of crisis?

Gurudev Sri Sri – Breathing, breathing, and breathing. Breath is the biggest secret that nature has put in you. It is linked to your emotions. Through breathing exercise technique, you can control your emotions. I think many of you have experienced this, isn’t it? (Many raise their hands) Those who have not experienced this, you must do a little bit of breathing exercises regularly, then you will have more say over your mind.
  • How can I be hollow and empty all the time?

Question – Gurudev, when I do

the Art of Living Advance Meditation Program, I feel hollow and empty. But again after a week I find that I am full of desires and botherations. How can I be hollow and empty all the time?
Gurudev Sri Sri – This is like asking, ‘How can I eat once for this lifetime and not have to keep eating every day?’ You know, it is such a boring job. Every day you have to cook and eat. If you eat today, again tomorrow you feel hungry. If you eat in the morning, then again in the evening you feel hungry. You cannot eat just once and be done with it because the body has its own nature. The same is with your mind. Entertainment is not enough once. Would you listen to me if I tell you that it is enough to watch only one movie in your lifetime? You need entertainment again and again. Body needs nutrition again and again. To satisfy hunger we eat food. We drink water to quench thirst. We take rest when we are tired. In the same way, spirituality is also like that. To satisfy spiritual hunger, we need to meditate again and again.
  • How do we free ourselves from the pain we have received till now and what to do so that we do not receive the pain in the future?

Question – Gurudev how do we free ourselves from the pain we have received till now and what to do so that we do not receive the pain in the future?

Gurudev Sri Sri – Yoga and meditation is the only way. Here everything is painful. Even an overdose of anything pleasant becomes painful. Wanting something pleasant causes pain. After having gotten what you want, then also there is pain because there is a fear of losing it. And when it is gone, the memory of it gives pain. Something unpleasant anyways gives pain right away. But the pleasant also gives pain because wanting or craving for something pleasant, is painful. This is what happens many times. Someone wants to get into a ministerial post. Before getting into it, there is so much pain to get into the post. Once they get into the post, then maintaining it is painful. And then when they leave the post, then also there is pain, because no one respects them. But when you feel completely unattached to it, that is when the pain disappears. That is why it is said, ‘Tena tyak tena bhunji thah’. Know that all this belongs to the Divine, so just let go of attachment and enjoy. I am not saying that it is bad to get into a position, or bad to experience pleasantness, no. But you should be detached from it.
  • If someone is continuously speaking badly, then what should one do?

Question – Gurudev, if someone is continuously speaking badly, then what should one do?

Gurudev Sri Sri – If someone is doing something continuously, then that is their nature. Can you say that every day the dog is barking? It is a dog only who can bark. You can’t expect a dog to say, ‘meow’. Same way, you should understand that this is their nature. If they do it continuously then you should be more relaxed. If someone does it once in a while, then you should be concerned, ‘What has happened? Has this person eaten something wrong or what?’ We can think about it. When someone is doing it continuously, it brings freedom to you. That is how they are. Why do you even have to worry about it? Just move on. At least the dog is in your house, and not in the neighbor’s house. The dog in your home, you can at least feed him something and make him shut up. But if the neighbor’s dog is crying all night and barking all day, you can’t do anything with that. So you simply have to accept the situation as it is. Keep telling your mind this and keep moving. Buy nice ear plugs and put it in your ears, or think this dog is singing a lullaby and go to sleep.
  • How to get rid of my tendency to control everything everywhere and every time?

Question – Gurudev, how to get rid of my tendency to control everything everywhere and every time?

Gurudev Sri Sri – You can control small things, that is why you have this illusion (that you are in control). Just try to control the big things, stop the war in Iraq, or stop the war in Syria. A couple came to meet me and they were talking. The husband said, ‘My wife decides all the small things and I decide all the big things. Like my wife decides what car to buy, what color the house must be painted, where we should go for holiday, how we should spend our money and all these small things. I don’t interfere in her work and I do the big things. I think about how to stop the war in Iraq, who should be the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, and how the nations should interact with each other, etc, and she never interferes in these matters, so we have peace at home’ (laughter). Like that if you want to have control, think about the bigger things. How you can control the weather or bring rain. If you are a control freak, you should control those things. Think about something like that.
  • I have been continually unwell since a very long time and have suffered numerous accidents in the past. I’m unable to bear so much pain. What do I do?

Question – Gurudev, I have been continually unwell since a very long time and have suffered numerous accidents in the past. I’m unable to bear so much pain. What do I do?

Gurudev Sri Sri – Listen, if you had really been so unwell, then you would have never been able to come here to the Bangalore Ashram. We never notice how healthy we are. Rather we keep focusing on the small diseases and problems in life and become miserable. It is not possible that someone can be unwell all the time, or since birth. If that were the case, then such a person will not be able to come all the way here and speak during the satsang. So do not think that you have had to take a lot of trouble to come here. You are already very healthy and are smiling too. You need to bring a change in your mentality, and your outlook in life. See, the body has its own limitations but you must be strong in your heart. Sometimes in life you may suffer pain, or some disease, or meet with an accident. That is the nature of the body, and it is alright. Continue doing your seva, sadhana and satsang and everything will be alright soon. This is why we have kept all types of facilities in the Ashram, to sustain and boost a person’s health, whether it is through Ayurveda, or the other techniques that we have that can help relieve the body from illness. The main point here is that you need to keep your mind healthy and happy.
  • I don't know what to choose as my career as I want to honor all my talents. Any suggestions?

Question – Gurudev, I don’t know what to choose as my career as I want to honor all my talents. Any suggestions?

Gurudev Sri Sri – One gentleman came to me who could play 40 instruments. He could play the flute, guitar, sitar, tabla, and many other more instruments. It was fascinating. I also knew a gentleman who had nearly 47 degrees, and he was not more than about 47-48 years old. I wondered how he got so many degrees. He is a lawyer, he is a doctor, he is an engineer, my goodness. Unfortunately, he died in a car accident. At the age of 47, he knew a lot of things. He simultaneously did a lot of degrees, otherwise you can’t do this. He had an amazing personality. Whatever you is good, but when you take up something, complete it. It is not that you take up something and then you drop it and take something else. Then you may be very talented but it is totally useless. So you take up something and see it through.
  • The breath is so powerful. How does it work in connecting us to the subtle dimension?

Question – Gurudev, the breath is so powerful. How does it work in connecting us to the subtle dimension?

Gurudev Sri Sri – My dear, in the subtle you are already connected. The breath only makes you realise that you are connected. Your mind is always outside and it does not come back to itself, so the breath is the first step in bringing the outgoing mind inward. It is the doorway or the pathway, and meditation keeps the mind in the inner chamber.
  • What is faith?

Question – Gurudev, what is faith?

Gurudev Sri Sri – That which withstands all doubts is faith. Your doubt is always about something that is positive. You doubt the honesty of somebody, you never doubt the dishonesty of someone. You doubt the love of somebody, not the hate of anyone. You doubt your happiness, you never doubt your depression. Has anybody ever doubted their depression? Have you ever said, ‘Wait, let me see, am I depressed or not’. You are so sure of depression. This is the nature of doubt and faith is that something which even doubt cannot overshadow. Once a journalist asked me, ‘Don’t beat around the bush, I want to ask a direct question. Are you enlightened?’ I just looked at him and smiled. If I say ‘Yes’ I have to prove it, so why take the headache of proving it. So I said ‘No’. He said, ‘You are kidding. I want a serious answer’. I said, ‘When I say no, it is finished, no more conversation’, yet he kept on insisting. I then said, ‘Ask your heart. Is your heart telling you that I am not telling the truth?
He said, ‘Yes’. ‘So, what is that something inside you that is telling you this? Listen to that voice. Why do you ask me?’
  • I have a vatta imbalance. My mind is so restless most of the time. It is almost impossible to meditate deeply. What to do?

    Question – Gurudev, I have a

vatta imbalance. My mind is so restless most of the time. It is almost impossible to meditate deeply. What to do?
Gurudev Sri Sri – These imbalances are not permanent. You call it imbalance because it is impermanent. It can’t be there for too long. If vatta imbalance is there, it is going to go away. A little rest, an ayurvedic massage, a little attention on food, and some good sleep, it will be gone. You shouldn’t sit and worry about it too much. It is the nature of the body, sometimes it gets very stiff, sometimes it becomes very loose. Same thing with the head. What do you do? That is how the nature is. Do what you can, and do what is to be done, and just move on.
  • Elaborate upon the contradictory nature of truth?

Question – Gurudev, please elaborate upon the contradictory nature of truth?

Gurudev Sri Sri – If you go to any temple in India, not only will you see idols of Gods and Goddesses, but you will also see the idols of many demons (representing negativity and delusion). Gods and Goddesses acquired their position because they were able to overcome these demons. If there were no demons, then how will they acquire their position? So whatever you find contradictory in nature are actually complimentary to each other. Take milk for example, is milk good or bad? If you drink only as much milk as is needed, then it is good for you. But if you drink too much, then the same milk can cause indigestion also. So when taken in excess, the same milk can harm you. In the same way, is poison good or bad? All medicines and life saving drugs have a warning label written on them that says, if taken in excess they are poisonous. So poison can help in saving life, and it can also take one’s life. That is why it is said that these aspects of. Nature may appear to be contradictory, but in reality they are actually complimentary to each other. When you go deeper in knowledge then you will realise this. A hero in a movie has some importance only when there is a villain also. If there is no villain in the movie, then the hero has no job, except to eat and sleep. When there is some mischief or some conflict that the villain creates, then all the talents and skills of the hero blossom and become evident.
  • As you always ask us to surrender our botherations, pains and problems to you, in a way are we running away from our responsibilities?

Question – Gurudev, as you always ask us to surrender our botherations, pains and problems to you, in a way are we running away from our responsibilities?

Gurudev Sri Sri – No. You should have a balance there. You give your 100% and then leave the rest. Surrender does not mean running away from responsibilities, it is a sense of assurance in you that yes things are going to be well.
  • Our horoscope is based on our birth time. If the birth time is unknown, does that mean our horoscope is wrong?

Question – Gurudev, our horoscope is based on our birth time. If the birth time is unknown, does that mean our horoscope is wrong?

Gurudev Sri Sri – If the timing is
correct, interpretation is right. You can never say that it is 100% right. There is a probability of it being 80%-90% correct. And there is always an adrushya (invisible), i.e., an unknown influence. It can happen anytime and that is what is called grace. So grace has the ability to change anything at anytime. Shastras (scriptures) have their significance. Like for instance, a boy was born and the father went to the astrologer to show his son’s horoscope. The astrologer said that your son is very great. There will be many cars around him all the time around, and he will have the ability to stop anybody at anytime. So the parents thought that their son is going to become a big minister, or the president, and he will be surrounded by a fleet of cars but the son became a policeman. Today of course there are traffic lights which have come, but 20 years ago there were not as many traffic lights but only policemen who direct traffic. The father came and fought with the astrologer, ‘You told me that my son will be surrounded by a fleet of cars, but he has become a policeman’. The astrologer said, ‘See my prediction has come true even now. He is a traffic policeman and he is surrounded by many cars’. Another astrologer said to someone, ‘You will be hit by a bullet in your head’. But what happened one day, the person was wearing a big hat and something did come, but it hit the hat and took the hat away. So there is a saying in Tamil, ‘What came to head went off with my hat’. So a big trouble which would have come, by grace it went away in a small way. So here the scripture is also proved right, but at the same time you were in a right place at the right time.

The way to expand from individual to universal consciousness is to share others’s sorrow and joy. As you grow, your consciousness should also grow. When you expand in Knowledge with time, then depression is not possible. Your inner most source is joy.
The way to overcome personal misery is to share universal misery! The way to expand personal joy is to share universal joy. Instead of thinking “what about me?” “what can I gain from this world?” think “what can I do for the world?” When everyone comes from the point of contributing to society, you have a Divine society. We have to educate and culture our individual consciousness in order to expand in time with the Knowledge . . . from “what about me?” to “what can I contribute?”
If you are not having good experiences in meditation, then do more seva — you will gain merit and your meditation will be deeper. When you bring some relief or freedom to someone through seva, good vibrations and blessings come to you. Seva brings merit; merit allows you to go deep in meditation; meditation brings back your smile.
     Answer to last week’s riddle:
That something which is so precious to you is your smile — your joy. You lose it in the world and find it in the self, in Satsang. If you can’t find it here, at the Ashram, forget about it. Your can’t find it anywhere.

  • I’m going through a lot of problems in life. You said many times that there is some higher power who always takes care of us. Can you please help me understand this?

Question – Gurudev, I’m going through a lot of problems in life. You said many times that there is some higher power who always takes care of us. Can you please help me understand this?

Gurudev Sri Sri – When a small child gets himself dirty in the mud, he comes to the mother and shows her how his hands and feet are all dirty. He knows she will take care. Children who are one or two years old cannot take a bath themselves, so they come to the mother. Even if they need their diapers to be changed, it is the mother who has to do it. The child knows that there is someone who loves it very dearly, and who will take care of it at all times. In the same way, we must have this deep faith that there is someone who loves us totally and will take care of everything for us. If you have experienced this feeling even once, you will simply walk ahead in life with your head held high, and full enthusiasm. You will walk regally like a lion and not like some small insect. You will not cry over your problems thinking ‘Oh, I do not have this, I do not have that. You will find that everything you desire will simply fall at your feet. Be strong from within, and know that you can do what you want to do. When you know you are not alone and there is someone to take care of you, you can overcome all the hurdles that come in life. This confidence has to come from within. Meditation and Spirituality brings you inner strength, makes you sharper, more alert and gives you an unshakeable peace and unwavering love and compassion.
  • If someone provokes us, should we keep quiet or teach them a lesson? If we keep quiet then they consider it as a weakness, and if we teach them a lesson, they say that we have not grown spiritually. What should be done in this case?

Question – Gurudev, if someone provokes us, should we keep quiet or teach them a lesson? If we keep quiet then they consider it as a weakness, and if we teach them a lesson, they say that we have not grown spiritually. What should be done in this case?

Gurudev Sri Sri – To teach someone a lesson, you should be calm. If you have anger, if you are disturbed, you cannot teach someone a lesson. At the same time, you cannot keep turning the other cheek all the time. Teach the lesson, but with compassion. This will give you strength. When you have understood the position of a person and why they are provoking you, you will deal with them with a calm and serene mind.

    WHAT YOU KNOW
What shall we talk about today?
What is the point in talking about something of which you know nothing. And so . . . there is no point in talking about what you know and no point in talking about what you don’t know!
     (Laughter)
Stefano says, “What about something you think you know but don’t know?”
Guruji says, “We can talk about something you think you know but you don’t know or something you think you don’t know but you know.” (Laughter)
There is no end to learning but there is an end to unlearning. That is when you become totally hollow and empty.

  • How do you bring peace to a relationship with a lot of conflict and arguments? Do you stay in it?

Question – Gurudev, how do you bring peace to a relationship with a lot of conflict and arguments? Do you stay in it?

Gurudev Sri Sri – There are two ways to handle it :
    1. Move away from that place at that time – because when everybody is angry, things are heating up, everyone goes deaf. Angry people do not listen to anyone. The best thing is move away a little bit and wait for things to cool down.
    2. Be there, with patience – First, agree with the person, say, ‘Yes, I agree with you.’
Suppose your husband or wife is arguing with you, don’t say, ‘No’, say, ‘Yes, you are right, I agree with you. The moment you agree, the temperature comes down. Then in a little gap, as the temperature comes down, say, ‘But, this is the secret. Sometimes people come to me with big ideas. I tell them, ‘Your idea is brilliant, very good, but it is impractical. Use your skill to calm the situation, and then get across what you want to the other person.
  • The Ashram is such a magical place

Recently, I did an AMC at the Ashram. Normally Guruji gives Darshan to all the AMC participants at the end of the course. This time was no exception either.

The Darshan went really well and I was really happy after meeting Gurudev. I met Gurudev once more that week, and I felt that all my questions were answered. It’s such a state of bliss one feels on seeing Him, it’s truly unexplainable.
The following week, while working with the Ashram Events & Promotions team, news came that Gurudev was going to meet people in the evening. One of my fellow Ashram sevak (volunteer) was the first one to know about it.
He was really excited to meet Gurudev, as this was his first time at the Ashram. He asked me if I could accompany him in the evening at the Darshan queue. I was in two minds.
It was only last week that I had met Gurudev, and secondly there was a lot of pending work. But still I said a ‘yes’ to my friend, just to keep him motivated. Very soon our day’s work was allotted and it turned out that my friend was supposed to visit the city at 4:30 PM which was precisely the time when Gurudev would meet the devotees.
And I was given the responsibility of staying back in the Ashram and handling other matters. My friend was really heartbroken, and I felt very sad for him. I even suggested that we switch responsibilities, but that was not approved by our seniors.
So we went ahead as per the plan. My friend and some other sevaks had already left by 4:30 PM, and I was waiting at my Ashram office, as I was supposed to receive a few guests.
Suddenly I got a call from my senior, saying that I was required to deliver certain items to someone at Budhha Hall (above Vishalakshi Mantap) at 5.15 pm. My desire to meet Gurudev that day was very sublime.
I had this ego that I had already met Him a couple of times last week, and therefore meeting Him again was not so important, and hence I would not be missing much if I did not go for Darshan. Anyway there was a rule for Ashram sevaks to attend to their work first.
So at around 5 PM, I went to the Vishalakshi Mantap to do my work. I was amazed to see a huge crowd near the Secretariat office, and to my surprise, I got to know that Gurudev had replaced the Darshan venue from the usual Badri Vishala to the VM.
So people were rushing out from Badri Vishala and running towards VM to get their best seat. I was very surprised. It was then that my hopes of meeting Gurudev were rekindled, once again. But I had a job to do and time was running out.
So I immediately ran up the stairs to Budhha Hall, and waited for the person I had to meet. Finally, he met me at 5.45 pm, and my work for the day was done.
Luckily for me, Gurudev was late that day. From above I could not see Him, but I could not hear any commotion from downstairs, which meant that He had yet not arrived.
No sooner had I started coming down the stairs, than the entire crowd started cheering when they saw Gurudev entering the VM. And I could find myself a place to stand at the corner. Gurudev came and blessed all of us with His usual Lotus flower.
I had nothing to say to Him. Everything was being taken care of by Him. I just had a feeling of gratitude in my heart. Suddenly it felt so good. I was so happy that I could see Him and receive His blessings, yet again.
I was in a state of pure contentment. It was my ego which came in the way. But nature had arranged the situations in such a way that the events made me realise that my focus should never shift from the Guru.
I was reluctant to go for the Darshan line that day because of my ego, but I eventually landed right there, and I am more than glad that I did. The Satsang post the Darshan went off beautifully.
There was so much of freshness in the air that day. The Ashram is such a magical place, truly. Jai Guru Dev.

  • I face any problem

On 22 November, 2012, which was a very special day of my life, I entered into the magical world of the Art of Living. I did the Part1, Yes!+ and DSN courses.

I heard a lot about the Advance Course, but did not get a chance to do the course because it was a full day course of four days and somehow I was not able to take leave for it. My craving for doing the course was increasing day by day. One day, Saleel Bhaiya, who was my Part1 and DSN Teacher happened to talk to me and suggested that I go to the Ashram for an Advance course with Guruji. I liked the idea very much but my mom and dad refused to give permission to go alone so far. Later on, fortunately, they agreed to send me to Bangalore on Maha Shivaratri with my friends. I was happy in doing the course in Mumbai only, but Guruji always gives me the best, so He wanted me to do the course in the Ashram so that I could have the best experience of this course. In order to reach the Bangalore ashram, I needed to travel by bus for approximately 17-18 hours but since I feel very nauseous in buses, I was really afraid of travelling all the way. However, as I really wanted to attend the Maha Shivratri celebrations in the presence of the Master, I took the name of Guruji and boarded the bus. I was originally supposed to travel by another bus which got cancelled at the very last moment; hence I finally took the bus in which a friend of mine from Art of Living was also there. Unfortunately, I had left my water bottle in the luggage section of the bus. After an hour, I started feeling pain in my body, which scared me. Luckily my Art of Living friend Dhruv was with me, so I asked him for a water bottle, and felt better after that. After a while, we got down for taking a break of half an hour. At that time, Dhruv bought me a water bottle and juice so that I could have it to reduce my pain. I was just thinking what would have happened if I would have gone alone by another bus. I felt like My Guru sent Dhruv in His form just to take care of me. Finally, I was in the Ashram and feeling like I reached heaven. Then while returning, again I had to travel by the AC bus and that too alone this time. I boarded the bus at night, so I dint feel any pain at night as such, but next morning, the pain was so severe that I felt like getting down that very moment. Then My Guru’s Blessing worked for me. I messaged my Art of Living friends to bless me as I was not feeling well and was alone too. I was praying really hard to Guruji to get some natural air somehow just for two minutes so that I could get rid of the suffocation. It was just unbelievable that within 15 minutes, the bus stopped at a place only for two minutes. I felt like My Guru gave me life. It happened only because of my friends blessings. I have firm belief that whenever I face any problem, Guruji always comes to me in the form of a person (like this time it was Dhruv) and helps me. Love you Gurudev. JGD

  • His life to bringing peace, love and happiness to the world

When I was in my 20s, I was suffering from terrible depression after several traumatic life experiences. There is a history of suicide in my family and at that point, I was also very close to killing myself. One day,

I was looking around in a bookshop, and I ended up in the New Age section. I had never been into anything New Age or spiritual before so I thought all the books were a bit weird. I was running my fingers over some books, and one of them sent an electric shock up my arm. I picked it up and saw the cover. It was called Healing with the Angels. I bought the book and took it home. It said that there are always angels around us but we have to pray to them and ask them for help. As we have free will, they cannot intervene in our lives unless we ask them to. I had completely given up hope at that time, so I thought why not give it a try? I knelt down on the floor of my bedroom and just asked God to help me. A few days later, my sister came home and said she had seen a poster saying Pundit Ravi Shankar was playing a concert down the road from my house. I was amazed and excited! Pundit Ravi Shankar was the Sitar player that played with The Beatles and had released numerous albums of his own. I was a massive fan of his and knew that he had retired from live performances. Not wanting to miss this rare opportunity to see one of my favorite musicians play, I went with about 10 friends. As it turned out, we were not going to see Pundit Ravi Shankar at all. It was actually a talk and meditation session with Sri Sri Ravi Shankar (aka Guruji). We entered and sat down towards the back row of the building. There was a small group of singers on the stage, singing, what I now know to be Bhajans. The music started to flow through my body and caused me to awaken into a highly blissful and altered state. Soon after, a loud voice started talking to me in my head. I then felt a hand reach down my throat and pull all this darkness out of my stomach. Shortly after this had finished, I looked up, and Sri Sri was walking onto the stage; and He sat on His chair and started meditating. What followed was the most amazing 2-3 hours of my life! As soon as I thought of a question in my head, Guruji would answer it. There were several hundred people in the room but it was like He was reading my thoughts and talking directly to me the whole time. I can’t tell how long it went on for as time seemed to fly out of the window, but it was at least a couple of hours. I do remember that after about half an hour, I turned to my sister and said that I didn’t think this was actually the musician Ravi Shankar. She replied that she thought He was a Guru. I remember not having any idea of what a Guru even was back then. One thing I knew for certain was that no one could have ever convinced me to go and listen to a Guru talk or to try meditation. I was highly skeptical of anything to do with spirituality. The only reason I was there was to see one of my favourite musicians play.Guruji then led a couple of group meditations. Many other people there had never tried meditation before either. After we finished, Guruji asked people in the audience how long they thought we had meditated for. Everyone thought it was only about 5 minutes, but it had actually been 20. It was amazing how He was able to send a whole room of people into deep meditation. After the talk finished, Guruji said that people who had never met Him before could come up the front. There was a huge line of people wanting to meet Him, and all the western people would shake His hand, while the Indians would touch His feet. While I was standing in line, He kept leaning forward so He could see me, and was smiling at me. When it was my turn to meet Him, I stood in front of Him, smiled and opened my arms and we hugged each other. I felt a lightening bolt pass from the top of my head down through my body to my feet and then back out of the top of my head again. It was the most intense experience of my life! For the next 6 months, I felt like I was in heaven. I was in a blissful state all day and had boundless energy. This eventually wore off and I began the long process of dealing with my depression and suicidal issues, but in a much calmer way this time. Had I not met Sri Sri or not done the Art of Living Programs, I know I would not have been alive today. The last 12 years of my life, since meeting Guruji, have been amazing. Everything has changed and I have achieved so many things that I thought were never possible. I have had so many incredible experiences and learned about myself, life and spirituality. Words cannot express how grateful I am to Guruji. He has dedicated His life to bringing peace, love and happiness to the world. He saved my life and asked for nothing in return except for me to be happy and follow my dreams. Thank you Gurudev. JGD.
  • Always so grateful

This was way back in September 2011, when a silly conversation between two friends introduced me to a world of unknown. The conversation went something like this: Namita: “Prads, why don’t you do the Art of Living (AOL) Part 1 course.

You do this course now, and since I am in Bangalore, you come here in December and we will do the Advanced course at the Ashram. It will be amazing!” Pradnya (Me): “Ok Nami :)” That was it. I googled the website of Art of Living, found two phone numbers, called up and signed up for the course. Out of the two teachers, I selected the one whose voice appealed to me. Thank God for my madness, otherwise I wouldn’t have met the very wonderful Aruna Aunty, my Teacher! That was the beginning of my spiritual journey. I got introduced to a life that has Sudarshan Kriya, Satsangs, Seva, Knowledge and GURUJI All this while I had just known Sri Sri as the founder of AOL, but now, He had become my personal Guru. All I can say is that I liked Him, liked Him because He was always smiling. Every time I looked at any of His snap, I smiled. I got the same feeling you get when you look at a child. I always wondered – how can any person manage to evoke such intensely blissful emotions? My love for Guruji took its own time to blossom. It wasn’t exactly love at first sight for me. But He didn’t wait to check how I felt, He loved me from day one! His magic flowed into my life right from 16th September 2011!!! Every day, I find moments where I am amazed as to how my work gets done, how situations that seem so complex get sorted so effortlessly. I am amazed at the innumerable surprises that life gives me, the abundance of love that I am blessed with. From fulfilling each and every wish to saving me from falling into disastrous situations, the past 3 years have been wonderful. He has delivered even when I have fought with Him, got angry at Him, lost faith in Him. The most beautiful thing is that He has accepted me always when I have come back, with all my flaws, and loved me for what I am. He just doesn’t seem to give up on me, and for this, I am grateful to Him. There are times on this spiritual journey, when you are confused. There is a dilemma between your conditioned mind and spiritual teachings. You may even feel like an outcast because you could be criticized for being on the path, your close ones would not be able to relate to you. We may have to go through these situations, but when you see the growth in yourself, when you see how far you have come as a person, you just don’t want to stop. There is this question that people tend to ask, “Do you choose a Master, or does the Master choose you?” To which there is an answer “When you take 1 step towards the Master, the Master takes 10 steps towards you”. I thank you Guruji, that you took those 10 steps towards me. I thank you Guruji, for you sailed me through my thick and thin. I thank you Guruji, that you never let me down. I thank you Guruji, for simply being the way you are. You are my Everything I am glad, happy, grateful and fortunate that I have a GURU and that is you – Sri Sri. Always so grateful. JGD.

  • Sankalpa works

I would like to share this beautiful experience of mine that made me realize the importance of Sankalpa, and how a pure desire truly manifests.

One day while we were taking a walk, my husband said to me “Wouldn’t it be nice to purchase a school and run it?” We both had always been in favour of education to all, as we believe that it is extremely essential in order to be self sufficient in today’s world. So we made a strong Sankalpa in our minds that we wanted to teach and educate in a big way, and we then surrendered it at the Lotus feet of Sri Sri. To our utmost joy and surprise, just within a weeks time, we got a call enquiring whether we were interested in looking after the Sri Sri Ravi Shankar pre-university College. This was like a dream come true, so perfect! We had fulfilled our desire to educate children, the Art of Living way. Once our work at the college had concluded, we humbly requested Gurudev to put us into some other Seva. We waited as He told us to. We belong to the state of Karnataka. Having lived abroad for the best part of our life, we had returned to Bangalore after retirement. A desire arose in us while we waited to hear from Guruji. We thought that now that we are free, we must travel around to see Karnataka. We have visited other continents, but what a shame that we have not seen our own State yet! Soon enough, we got a call from Him, and here’s what He said, “You do this, travel throughout Karnataka, touch all the districts and work for the expansion of all activities in Karnataka.” He had heard us! I feel so blessed to have such a loving Master in my life, who takes care of every small wish of mine. A sincere desire, for the benefit of others, always gets fulfilled. And the happiness you receive when working for the betterment of society, while doing service to mankind, is just not explainable in words. You have to experience it. It is Bliss:) In the last couple of years we have seen the entire state of Karnataka, while taking AOL activities forward. Sankalpa works. In Gratitude Always.

  • We do sadhana regularly yet we face difficulties. Why is it so?

Question – Gurudev, we do sadhana regularly yet we face difficulties. Why is it so?

Gurudev Sri Sri – It is only when you face difficulties that you ask ‘Why do I face difficulties?’, you never ask ‘Why am I happy?’ when you are happy. When we face difficulties, sadhana gives us the strength to face it, to overcome it. Things have changed and will change. Have faith.
  • Does it matter how close we sit to you if you are everywhere?

Question – Gurudev, a lot of people want to sit in front of you during satsang, and often it leads to some battles. Does it matter how close we sit to you if you are everywhere?

Gurudev Sri Sri – I tell you a secret, they simply don’t know that more blessings go to the people who are the back(laughter). They should drop this ‘Me’ and allow everyone a chance to come to the front. ‘Yesterday I sat, today let someone else sit’. This should be the attitude. Unless you have a role to play, you are singing or you are a translator. Otherwise, give space for others. That shows that you have digested something of what you heard, else all the knowledge that you have heard is gone.
  • Once we are on the path we should just relax as you are doing all the work. What does this mean?

    Question – Gurudev, you have

said that once we are on the path we should just relax as you are doing all the work. What does this mean?
Gurudev Sri Sri – I say many things at many times, don’t take it of out context. You should keep it in context. I have said, ‘Till you catch a train you have to run, once you have caught the train, relax with
your luggage. Just by you running inside the train with your luggage, the train is not going to run any faster. So, once you’re on the spiritual path, drop your anxiety, relax and you will reach where you have to reach’. I say don’t go spiritual shopping. Some people go spiritual shopping, a little bit here, a little bit there. Relax. You have gotten wonderful knowledge and a wonderful path, all in one package. Just relax.
  • Does meat industry create violence?

Question – Gurudev, does meat industry create violence?

Gurudev Sri Sri – Meat industry, I would say is outdated now because people have started understanding how our whole system is made for vegetarian food. We are herbivorous because our immediate ancestors, apes are vegetarians. Monkeys, cows, zebras are vegetarian. Most of the domestic animals are vegetarian and our system is made for vegetarian food. Personally, if you see the way the animals are tortured to make food for you and you look into their eyes, nobody will touch that food because we all have a human heart, compassion and sensibility. The meat industry keeps unaware of how it is produced and they only give you the meat to consume it. But once you see how it is produced and how much torture the animal undergoes, you will abstain from it. Today with the growth of natural food, people have changed their preferences. In North America, a large section of the population has found health in vegetarian food.
  • How do we cope with small minded people?

Question – Gurudev, how do we cope with small minded people?

Gurudev Sri Sri – See, there are so many types of people in this world. How many people do you know who have for no reason become your enemies? Your good friends have become your enemies? Isn’t it? Similarly, so many people who were unknown to us have helped us at some point of time. We may not have done anything for them, but they helped us out. So friends or enemies are all a cause of our karmas. If our time is wrong, friends can become enemies, and if our time is right, enemies can turn into friends.
  • What is the technique to be followed daily so that impressions don't remain in the mind, intellect or the memory?

Question – Gurudev, what is the technique to be followed daily so that impressions don’t remain in the mind, intellect or the memory?

Gurudev Sri Sri – Just relax, be natural. If you say that I do not want this impression to remain in my mind, then you are making that impression even stronger. If it is there it is there, and if it is not there it is not there. So just relax and you will see that whatever is the right thing will stay on.
  • How can one improve the presence of the mind?

Question – Gurudev, how can one improve the presence of the mind? One has such long hours and so much travel these days.

Gurudev Sri Sri – Some breathing techniques, pranayama, and meditation would help you improve your presence of mind. Doing pranayama in the morning and evening keeps you really fresh. I work for about 19 hours every day, and I keep travelling quite a lot, also. Do I look tired? It definitely helps.
  • To get rid of negativity?

Question – Gurudev, my parents deeply follow astrology and force me into it. Should I follow it or is Sudarshan Kriya sufficient to get rid of negativity?

Gurudev Sri Sri – Yes, this is good enough. Astrology is a science, an ancient gift to the world, but too much into it is also ignorance, and discarding it totally is also ignorance. Knowledge of it is good but ‘Om Namah Shivaya’ is the best remedy to all astrological problems.
  • How should one balance life between social service, business and responsibilities at home?

Question – Gurudev, how should one balance life between social service, business and responsibilities at home?

Gurudev Sri Sri – Do you all drive cars here? Yes. When you drive a car what do you do? You look at the side mirrors, rear view mirror and you look in the windshield as well. How do you balance all three? You can’t say, ‘I will only look at the rear mirror’. or, ‘I only look in the front’ or, ‘I only look at the sides’. You have to simultaneously do all the three and you do that? Exactly same way. Rear view mirror is like knowing the past. You should have little memory of the past. If you have done some mistake, it should not be repeated. Front mirror is like the vision of life ahead. That is why, the front windshield is very big and the rear view mirror is very small. Then there are side mirrors, these are for you to be aware of what is happening around you all the time. So how you use all three? Exactly same way.
  • I would like to bring this program to the corporate world

Question – Gurudev, there are many smart people in my company. Now when I introduce a spiritual course to these smart souls, I fear they would get awakened and may start feeling a dispassion for business, and the true meaning of life would attract them elsewhere. I would like to bring this program to the corporate world. So what is the best way to introduce them to something like this without having this fear?

Gurudev Sri Sri – Actually, what The Art of Living gives in this course is something to develop their personalities. Their sharpness of intellect, calmness of their mind, and to bring an inspiration from within. That is what we focus on. So, you can be assured that they won’t run away, or become dispassionate. Millions of people have done this course, we have not seen anyone run away. Otherwise World Bank would not have taken this program as a part of their leadership seminars. It all depends on how you present the inner calmness. I understand when you say your inner calmness or liberation is important, and people may tend to go to in that direction, but here, it is all about finding the inner creativity and peace, and to be able to manage any adverse situation with a smile.
  • karma can we overcome it by purshartha (making efforts)?

Question – Gurudev, it is said that when one has accumulated sins, then one does not feel like doing spiritual practices or going to satsang. But if at some point of time if we become aware that this is happening because of a particular karma, then can we overcome it by purshartha (making efforts)?

Gurudev Sri Sri – Yes, absolutely. That is the intelligent thing to do also. Such people are the intelligent ones. You cannot call them foolish or ignorant. When you are aware of a wrong action you have done, then spiritual practises and satsang can help you cut away all these negative karmas.
  • What can I offer as a gift to the Divine?

Question – Gurudev, the Divine has given me everything. What can I offer as a gift to the Divine?

Gurudev Sri Sri – Keep this question with yourself from time to time, the Divine will take the appropriate gift from you. Whenever you feel upset, hatred, anger, or any negative emotion, give it to the Divine and be happy. Spread the knowledge, and happiness to other people. The happiness, faith, and devotion you have, whether it is a spark or a flame, should spread to other people so that they experience the same joy, and happiness in their lives.
  • I worry too much about failure, especially when I am doing something important. It decreases my efficiency. How to overcome this?

Question – Gurudev, I worry too much about failure, especially when I am doing something important. It decreases my efficiency. How to overcome this?

Gurudev Sri Sri – A new beginning. That was the past – drop it. Have faith that there are many more new things to come into your life. One thing that you should know is that you don’t know yourself. When you look at what you did in the past or your weaknesses, the first step to gain confidence is to know that you don’t know yourself. When you think that you know yourself, only then do you attach yourself with all these negative events and qualities. But when you wake up and see that, ‘Hey, I don’t know myself’, then it is a new beginning. Then you will discover that there are so many strengths within you that you were not aware of.

    SAMADHI
A single cell becomes the whole body. Somewhere it is nails, somewhere it is nose and tongue but all is a manifestation of a single cell. In the same way, the entire universe is made up of a single substance.
Remembering and FEELING that everything is made up of one thing heals the body and mind and balances the doshas in the body (vata, pitta and kapha). This is savitarka samadhi. Savitarka samadhi means equanimity with logical awareness.
Deep sleep can be jada samadhi (equanimity with inertia). And hence, sleep is the main factor in healing. Even medicines will not help without sleep and rest.
Samadhi with ecstasy has no logic. This is nirvitarka samadhi, awareness with bliss.
Nirvitarka samadhi is even beyond the experience of bliss, undefinable beyond words.

  • Life is a combination of effort and effortlessness

Anything that is natural does not require effort. You bathe in the morning. Do you bathe with a lot of interest? Do you brush your teeth with a lot of interest? No, you don’t. Just because you have to do it, you do it! It’s natural and effortless!

Like when you are smiling naturally, that smile is effortless. But if you are asked to smile then that becomes a difficult task. Doing an action that requires effort is ‘Aasakti.’However, doing work that comes naturally and gives you inner peace is done in ‘Nirasakti’.
If you ask those who prepare food every day, they would be able to prepare it without much effort. However if the same task is handed to a person who never cooks, he will flip through the pages of a recipe book again and again, to prepare the same food. He will keep tasting the food to check the balance of spices. So wherever effort is applied, the job is done with ‘Aasakti’, and this leads to feverishness.
You being feverish about going to, for example, Mysore is ‘Aasakti’; and effortlessly driving your car to Mysore is ‘Nirasakti’.‘Nirasakti’ is not disinterestedness or depression; it is just an effortless attitude. The next effortless thing is meditation. If you put effort into meditation, that is it! You will not be able to do it. Meditation happens effortlessly.
Life is a combination of effort and effortlessness and they are complementary! If you work dynamically, you sleep well. If you have memorised well, you remember automatically. If you are doing service, you are able to love more, because there is satisfaction and your heart is opening up. If you can see beauty everywhere, you can appreciate beauty!
When you can do this, things become effortless; even jobs requiring effort, will not be strenuous. Do you see, when you want to do something, when the heart is in it, when there is an appreciation of beauty, then even effort is not strenuous?

  • How to bring children who oppose the path onto the path?

Question – Gurudev, how to bring children who oppose the path onto the path?

Gurudev Sri Sri – You know, a parent cannot influence their teenagers, but they can influence the friends of their children. So, before you become a good mother or a good father, you have to become a good uncle or aunt. The friends of your children will have more respect for you, and will listen to you. So tell your daughter or your son to bring all their friends home, and then you talk to them separately. You can influence them, and through them you can influence your children. It is like, if there is a mango tree in the garden and you want a mango, you will throw a stone at the branch so that the mango falls, but you will not hit the mango directly. That is the indirect way in which you have to deal with your teenagers.
  • What was the relationship between Radha and Krishna. What was so special about their relationship that even Krishna's wife did not get the same place as Radha?

    Question – Gurudev, what was

the relationship between Radha and Krishna. What was so special about their relationship that even Krishna’s wife did not get the same place as Radha?
Gurudev Sri Sri – Though I have never read the Srimad Bhagavatam but I have heard that it is mentioned that Radha is not mentioned anywhere. The very meaning of the word ‘Radha’ means to return to your source. ‘Dhara’ means that which comes from the source, while ‘Radha’ means that which goes back to the source. So Radha is a Shakti (divine power). Until we go to the source we cannot experience Lord Krishna. Why is it so? It is because Lord Krishna is the source and Radha is the way or path to the source. So even if you are Rukmini or Satyabhama (the main wives of Lord Krishna), till you become Radha, till you return to the source, you cannot attain Lord Krishna. This is the hidden meaning behind this symbolism.
  • A Life-Changing Journey

I discovered the Art of Living in 2017 when I attended a Happiness Program in my college. At first, I was simply looking for a new experience, but what I gained from the workshop was beyond my expectations. I felt an immense sense of happiness, contentment, and freedom that filled every cell of my being.

Inspired by the transformation I experienced, I started sharing my newfound knowledge with friends and family, and before I knew it, I was organizing workshops for others as well. Through regular practice of Sudarshan Kriya and Meditation, I continued to flourish. Not only did my studies improve, but I also became a gold medalist and the top performer in my department. I found that I was able to balance my academic pursuits with my seva, or service, to others, all while continuing to organize and teach Art of Living courses. After two and a half years, I decided to attend the Teachers Training Program at the Art of Living International Center in Bangalore. Initially hesitant to become a teacher, I trusted in the wisdom of my mentors and teachers and completed the program with full dedication. Becoming the youngest teacher at age 22, I realized that meeting Gurudev was the ultimate goal of my journey. Today, I consider myself one of the luckiest people to have been chosen by Gurudev himself to spread happiness and knowledge through the Art of Living. Thanks to his blessings and the support of the best mentors, team, and group of individuals who are dedicated to uplifting others, I am now able to teach in a school, pursue my PhD, and continue organizing and teaching AOL workshops both online and offline. I have witnessed firsthand how people from all walks of life eagerly await the teachings of Gurudev, Sudarshan Kriya, and Meditation. It is my unshakable faith in Gurudev that has enabled me to manage the many challenges of balancing work and study while continuing to spread the Art of Living’s message of peace and happiness.

  • There is only One Brahman

Once upon a time, Gurudev was giving darshan to a congregation. People were coming and bowing down, seeking blessings. Gurudev was silent most of the time and when somebody would come and share their troubles, looking for a response, he would say only one thing “You are very lucky”.

One person came to him and said, “I failed in my exam.” Gurudev said, “Well, you are very lucky.” Another came and said, “My wife has left me.” “You are very lucky.” No matter what problems people shared, “None of my friends are talking to me” or “I lost my job”, Gurudev kept telling them that they were very lucky. Even though it was the same response, strangely, those people would walk away happily, as though they received the right advice for their situation. After a while, one person came forward and shared, “Gurudev, I feel very lucky and I am so grateful that I have you in my life.” When Gurudev heard this, he got annoyed and gave this person a tight slap. Even more strangely, this man, with tears in his eyes, started dancing in gratitude. Another person who was watching all this, got totally confused at everybody’s behavior. But he could not gather enough courage to ask Gurudev directly. So He went to a senior disciple and confided, “I can’t make any sense out of what I saw. Could you please explain to me the meaning of all this?” On being asked to give an interpretation of the Guru’s actions (which devotees love to do anyway), this person replied, “It was perfect what Gurudev did. The first person realized he was lucky because when you fail in an exam, you end up studying it more thoroughly. The person who lost his job and the one whose friends left him are lucky because they now have some time to introspect. People in jobs never have any time and one has to be really lucky to get some time in life to reflect on the Truth, on ‘who am I’. The person whose wife ran away is lucky because now he can learn what mistakes he made in his relationship. He now has an opportunity to become sensitive to his wife’s welfare and that’s why Gurudev’s words made him happy. There are 3 levels of human consciousness. The first and the lowest is pure inertia, when one does not feel anything. The second is when one realises that there is misery in life. Buddha took people from inertia to awareness of misery. Every misery wakes you up and that is when dispassion and discrimination dawn in you. That is why many people become spiritual when they see sorrow in life. The third step is realizing that life is all blissful. This is where the Guru Tattva (Principle) is needed. In the presence of the Guru, misery gets transformed into bliss.” “But why did the last person who was grateful get a slap?” “Because when he said, ‘I am grateful’, he was still centered around the ‘I’. When he got that slap, he realized that even to be grateful, there need to be two. The Master told him, ‘Me and you? Two? Come on, wake up. There is only One Brahman.’ When you realize this, misery vanishes from life. Usually people exist, they don’t live. Existing without life is ignorance. Living as if you don’t exist is Enlightenment. Shoonyata and Poornata, meditation and celebration go together and today, Guru Poornima, is the day for both.
  • MIRACLE POSSIBLE ONLY BY BIG BOSS

I had a deadly incident recently. On 29th October, 2012 I had gone for Vikram Bhaiya’s satsang to Belapur. On the way back home, the bus was travelling at a very high speed, which ofcourse was enjoyable. But suddenly, a gentleman on his motorcycle came in front of this bus.

To avoid the accident, obviously the bus driver instantly pressed the brakes due to which the bus skid forcefully & this force was so enormous that I have gone flying from my seat, onto the staircase of the bus. I did bang my hand & I hurt my leg.But I am thankful to Guruji because if the skid would have been more powerful, I would not land on the staircase, but would have gone straight into the glass of the bus. MIRACLE POSSIBLE ONLY BY BIG BOSS. This is not all, theres one more incident – There is a saying in hindi, “DENE VALA JAB BHI DETA, DETA CHAPAD PHAAD KE”(When the Giver gives,He gives in abundance). But I say, DADIWALA JAB BHI DETA, DETA CHAPAD PHAAD KE, that is because one day I was going on thinking of the Surya Namaskar, I wanted to learn how to do it. This thought was going on in my mind at around 3:30 P.M & surprisingly at around 6 P.M, 2 of my volunteer friends came to my house with the registration forms for the Sri Sri Yoga course which was being taken by Senior International Teacher Laxmi didi. I went for this course & learnt the Surya Namaskar & I was so pleased to do this course. Learning the Surya Namaskar, was like a dream come true. DREAM COME TRUE BECAUSE OF ONE AND ONLY, OUR SWEET SRI SRI. This is not the end, one more Guru story – JGD, People often do think, how is it possible that Guruji knows what we are thinking, how does he know what is going on in our mind? Infact, these questions went on in my mind as well. But, what happened with me in the last advance course in March 2012, made me realize that Guruji indeed knows what is going on our mind. In March, when I went for the AMC with Guruji, I was continuously saying the mantra” GURUJI PLEASE MEET ME”. The course was being taken by Swami Brahmatej. On the 2nd day of the course, I requested Swamiji to make me meet Guruji. The next day, after Guruji finished taking a meditation, a volunteer came to take me to the stage to meet Guruji. After meeting him, I was mentally thanking Swamiji because he kept me in mind & sent a volunteer to make me meet Guruji. That evening when I met Swamiji, I actually thanked him for sending a volunteer to make me meet Guruji. But, Swamiji was looking confused & then he said that he never sent any volunteer to me & that the volunteer was sent by Guruji himself.

  • You are amazing

The story dates back to 2013. Not much time had passed, since I joined Art of Living. But, a short span of time had instilled an indelible faith. It took me no time to know that Gurudeva loves us immensely and is always there to make everything fall in place.

I had to travel to Germany for business reason. The stay there was no shorter than 2 months and I have a small child who was then three and half years old. I had not left her alone even for a night and there was absolutely no way that I could be away from her for 2 months. I was worried and perturbed and could not find a way out. I could not imagine being away from her for two months. After giving it a lot of thought, I decided to take my daughter and my mother along. I hastily applied for Tourist VISA for both of them. But, to my surprise, VISA was rejected. The day it was rejected was Guruji’s birthday. I was upset, but the immense faith and love for Guruji made me visit Ashram for his Birthday Celebration. I was seated, and suddenly, someone passed me Gurudev’s photograph with a message on it. The message was, “Do not fear, I am with you”. I felt much relieved and better after reading the message. After few days, I re-applied for VISA. I did get VISA this time for both my daughter and my mother, but just for one month. I was somewhat relieved, since I had thought I would get VISA extension once I reach Germany. But, to my surprise, I was told by my colleagues that Tourist VISA cannot be extended. I was worried yet again and that very evening, I went to Ashram to get some books and attended Satsang in Gurudev’s presence. I prayed to help me find a way out to get my mother’s and daughter’s VISA extension. We all left for Germany. The very first week, I went to Town Hall (Rathause) to register myself. I explained my situation to an officer over there and I was completely amazed by her response. She said she would get their VISA extended till my stay. I was overwhelmed. I never thought VISA extension would be a cakewalk. I was way too happy and this instilled unshakeable faith for Gurudeva. I realized that Gurudeva loves and cares unconditionally for each and every one of us. Guruji, you are amazing. Jai Guru Dev.

  • Source Of Strength

When I started the part 1 course, my main purpose was weight loss but I got much more than that. From my 1st day to the 6th day- I was washed every minute. My love and compassion for my Guru was so deep that I wanted to spread the awareness all around, so I immediately became a volunteer and started organizing courses for my teacher- Dinesh Bhojwani.

Many miracles were seen in my day-to-day life as he made me realize his presence in every passing day. I use to talk to him every day, bothering him, kept asking him questions till I got the answer and I always did at its right time. One of the miracles that shook me was when one of my friends wanted to take our friendship to the next level. I had lost all contact with him for nearly two years because of his wrong intentions- and I kept asking Guruji why now? Why again? As taught by Guruji people change, so I dint know had it or not for him. I told Guruji, take 15 days and please solve this for me- LET THE RIGHT THING HAPPEN FOR BOTH OF US. It was unbelievable how in EXACT 15 days the entire truth came in front and GURUJI saved me from having the wrong life partner. My faith has always being with him even while mom was in the hospital. I was regular with my kriya. I lived in Jaslok hospital, Mumbai for 15 days only with her- I had not seen what was happening in the outside world. My mom’s journey to the hospital continued for 2 months. In between came GURU Poornima where I had decided to do my long kriya at Bandra Talao hall and only shout and shout and ask Guruji what is your plan for my mother and why are you troubling her by making her go through so much in the hospital. After I did my kriya that morning – I tried the hardest to remember what I had to talk to Guruji and I REMEMBERED NOTHING. NOTHING AT ALL- I ONLY LOOKED AT HIS BIG PICTURE & SMILED AT HIM. My mom’s journey ended at the hospital when she had to also end her time with all of us. She left me and my dad all alone on the 14th June 2010. I dint cry at all in front of my father because I had to support him like I did in our hospital journey. When I burst out at home – my friend played Vikram Hazra’s song Om Namah Shivaya Gurave-Russians Rock. Guruji showed me the visual of him coming and taking mom, holding her hand, both of them wearing white long gowns and my mom was very happy. I smiled and laughed to her and said goodbye. That was my first and till date visual glimpse of Guruji. Listening to that song till today makes me cry and I she was with me right now. Life has changed a lot for me. I have not been so irregular with kriya since I started this beautiful journey, but I still believe Guruji has a big plan for me. Jai Guru Dev.

  • When The Master Is Found

It was a regular morning for me; I got ready and left for college to finish my work quickly, so that I could go to Ashram, as Gurudev was in Bangalore. I finished my work, unexpectedly very fast.

Happy with myself I decided to rush to the Ashram and having a bike of your own is the best possible thing at such a time, But I was then reminded of the previous night when my friend borrowed my Wego and while parking it back, she accidentally broke the key. For couple of minutes I was completely clueless as to how I would start my bike as I had already lost the original key 2-3 months back and this one was the only key I had. Then to make my state of mind better, I imagined the presence of Gurudev and started singing the bhajan ‘Om Namo Bhagvate’. After few minutes I realised that I was back to the college gate (I had no idea why or how did I reach there), and then I saw my batch-mates standing there. So I went to them and asked if anyone knew any key-maker nearby and narrated the whole story; but surprisingly the whole time, I was only looking at one particular girl while talking and she was not even a friend of mine. She asked me- “Do you want it for a bike?” I said “Yes!” Then she said, “Wait let me check, I think I have a key, hopefully in the same bag. I found it long time back, just sees if it’s yours”. Turns out, that was my long lost original key, which that girl happened to keep, thinking she might find its owner and return it someday! The essence of this entire episode was that I bumped into the same girl who had my keys standing exactly at the college gate, and she happened to carry the same bag which she had on the day she found my key And then I realized – “Nothing can be lost in my life when I have found my Master.” JGD.

  • Every moment is too great

I had two angioplasties in 2004 and 2006 and thus remained on medication for 4 years. In January 2008, I did the Advance Course (my 6th one) in Ghoom with Sejalji.

It so happened that I had forgotten to carry my medicines on the course. On the first night at 2 am, I had a severe palpitation attack and angina. Luckily at that time Sejalji blessed me and it all subsided with one loose motion. Later, in April/May, again I experienced severe palpitation. To save me, two words from the AOL teachings “SO WHAT” overpowered my mind and this lamp of deep faith lit within my heart which made me believe that everything is being and will be taken care of by Guruji. With that I began to sink in deep, very deep relaxation and a feeling of infinity. And after that moment, no angina and no palpitation occurred. This happened without any medical regime. The enclosing and engulfing love of Guruji felt every moment is too great. Jai Gurudev

  • Spread love and happiness

You always see those surreal moments in the news and movies, where people survive near-death experiences.

But it doesn’t cross your mind that it could happen to you one day. I went for a cooking competition in which my sister was participating.
It was held on the rooftop of a well-known mall in Nairobi. All the participants were supposed to report to the mall by a certain time.
But we left home after the reporting time, reaching the mall quite late. Before leaving home, I thought about going later with my cousin and other sister.
But then I just had a gut feeling that I should go now. We reached the mall, and I had to return a shirt that I had bought earlier.
I told my mother to come along with me, but she said that we’d go after the competition finished.
We were lucky that we didn’t enter the mall, because about 10 minutes later, we heard gunshots and saw hundreds of people storming out of the mall.
It was a moment of confusion, assuming that it was probably a robbery. Then the intensity of the gunshots and explosions increased.
And we realised that it was something bigger and we had to run. Being at the top of the building meant that it was a long way out.
The car-park was filled with cars, and we had no idea where to run. There were about 300 odd people and the majority were children.
The gas cookers were on, but everyone just ran for their lives. As soon as we started running, I took my mom’s phone and called my cousin and sister, who were on their way to the mall.
I told them not to come in, as something was wrong. It was the perfect timing, as they were just about to enter the gate, and so they drove somewhere else.
The next phone call I made was to my friend, who was coming to meet me, with the same message, not to come.
We moved into a corner where cars couldn’t park because of the angle and ducked down, trying to hide ourselves.
I was with my mum, sister and her friend. There were people trampling on top of anyone, trying to jump over the wall, assuming there was greater safety on the other side.
We were all cramped and sitting on top of each other, with the effort of hiding ourselves, as best as possible.
There was gunshot after gunshot and explosion after explosion, and in that moment, I thought that the mall was going to collapse and we were all gone.
During that time, I just kept remembering Guruji, and prayed to Him to protect us. The only word in my head and on my lips was ‘JAI GURU DEV’.
Because there were so many people (especially children) there was a lot of shouting and crying.
Initially I was quite uneasy, but once I thought of Gurudev, I got this deep strength and faith, that He would protect us. My father then called and asked if everything was fine.
And I think it may have been one of the most difficult calls of my life, because I told him that I didn’t know what was going on and asked him to pray for us.
We then figured that the mall had been attacked by terrorists. We all got extremely frightened on learning this. The terrorists then came onto the roof and were randomly shooting and throwing grenades.
I think a bullet must have hit the gas cylinder, and the tent caught fire. I saw someone rolling out with his body on fire and asking for help, but no one could do anything.
The terrorists threw grenades in our direction. As soon as it went off, we started running again to find a place with more safety, but there was actually nowhere to go, with cars all over.
In the chaos, I got separated from my mum, sister and her friend. I was unsure if anything happened to them in the process of the grenade going off.
I was really worried, as there was a man right in front of me who lost his leg, and a woman sitting beside me who had lost her hand due to the shrapnel.
There was a grenade about 5 metres from us, which hadn’t gone off. The terrorist saw us but did not approach us, he had one of the biggest guns I have ever seen.
After spending 2 hours in the blazing heat, in a very uncomfortable position, someone came and told us the way out. We were unsure if he was a terrorist or not.
But eventually we started running until we saw someone with a gun and decided to run back. The man told us that he was there for our security and that we shouldn’t worry.
So we started running out. Because we had been in the same position for two hours, everyone’s legs were pretty stiff.
My mom really struggled with her feet and couldn’t walk further. But there was no way we could leave her in that danger zone.
So I held her hand and pulled her with me. She got some strength, but still found it difficult to run.
So I told my sister to run ahead with her friend, and my mother and I ran right behind them. And in the end, we managed to get out of the mall, safe and sound.
Truly, all’s well that ends well. Now when I look back, the day was truly a miracle. A lot of people lost their lives, and I’m still sitting here, writing this.
We managed to get out without an injury, when we could have been shot or hit by shrapnel, as it was the case for many people. The grenade didn’t go off.
The terrorist had seen us and had been shooting randomly before that, but he didn’t do anything to us after that.
My gut feeling to go to the mall with my sister and mum was a blessing in disguise, because I managed to pull my mum out, or else she would have fallen weak.
I have no idea where I got the presence of mind to make the calls that I did, but that prevented a dangerous situation from occurring.
I could have gone inside the mall to return the shirt, but it was strangely postponed. When I was there, I did not shed a single tear because I got this strong faith and strength from something that I couldn’t figure out then
But I was assured that everything would be okay. The powerful force behind that miracle and protection was Gurudev.
He made us do things which we had thought about, but then changed our mind. He gave us strength. I had done my Kriya that day after about a month.
Honestly, I can’t describe what He did for us that day. And even after that, I was quite traumatised because of the events of the day.
I saw many dead and injured people who were brutally hurt. I could hear all the crying, shouting, gunshots, and explosions.
I could see the terrorist who came in front of me, and wondered why he didn’t turn around and shoot us or throw more grenades at us.
My mind was all over the place with the ‘ifs’ and ‘buts’. Then I did my Kriya and meditated every day, and I can say that after a month.
I felt like I was my old self again, but much stronger. The support from Guruji, my family and friends was incredible.
And I want to thank them every day for it. What I learnt that day was nothing but a reflection of Gurudev’s teachings.
Life is too short. We need to live in the moment, because it truly is a present from God. We need to forgive and forget.
But most importantly, I feel, we need to spread love and happiness, because that is what life is about. Jai Guru Dev.

  • I was suffering from facial warts

I was suffering from facial warts. Warts are small projections on the skin caused by the human papilloma virus. Homeopathy is known to be the only treatment for them. I was suffering for nearly 6 years. I had to change three doctors and I even did a minor surgery to get rid of them and yet they were resurfacing. All the medicines were proving to be ineffective.

I had lost all hope. Subsequently I had a good fortune of running into the Art Of Living programme where they taught me the Sudarshan Kriya. After about three weeks of doing the Kriya daily, I happened to glance in the mirror to check how my warts were doing. What I saw, amazed me and I shall never ever forget the look I had on my face as I looked into the mirror. All the warts had disappeared completely. It was really unbelievable. I was trying to figure out what had caused it. Suddenly it struck me that the Sudarshan Kriya which I was doing daily had done it. I was feeling a mixture of gratitude and surprise. All this and many other miracles I have had with Poojya Gurudev and the Sudarshan Kriya have led me to an unflinching belief that the divine does really exist and he is residing right here amongst us mortal men in his abode at the Art of Living ashram on 21, Kanakpurra Road, Bangalore. Jai Guru Dev.

  • Do your Kriya and Sadhana, and He takes care of the rest.

On1st November 2020, during the Sunday Kriya Follow Up session in Gurudev’s voice that I was taking, for some reason I asked everyone to chant 108 “Om Namah Shivay”. Then we did our Padma Shadhana and Kriya.

After that my sister’s family and I left for Palava to sign the agreement for renting a flat. Mom stayed back at home since the car was small and only 4 can fit. My sister was driving and I was on the seat behind her. My brother in law next to the driving seat and my niece (also an AOL teacher, and SSU gold medalist 2020) next to me on the rear seat. On the way just after crossing the toll a truck hit our car from the right. The truck hit my door (rear right door where I was sitting) first, turned the car 90° and then all I could see was the truck was pushing the car and me from the right side. With the impact the car turned 90° and hit the divider. The car came right in front of the truck. The truck dragged our car to another 10 – 12 meter and was about to topple it. I felt the car left the ground contact and shouted out “Guruji, Guruji, Guruji”. The truck stopped with the 3rd loud callout to Gurudev.
The car doors on the right smashed but none of us got even a scratch, not even a glass or mirror broke. With that magnitude of impact the glasses should have shattered and Didi and I would have atleast been badly wounded with glass pieces all over us. Leave alone the window glasses, the right side mirror too was intact. We 4 of us would have been dead, with Mom alone at home and not even knowing what happened.
I am grateful to my Master for saving us. No words can equate to Gurudev’s Love and Affection for us. And, stay connected to the Master and He takes care of you. It was his grace which invoked the thought to chant 108 times Om Namah Shivay during Sunday Followup which we haven’t done earlier. Do your Kriya and Sadhana, and He takes care of the rest.

  • How do I meet Guruji?

One day I left the Ashram. Another devotee accompanied me. I think it was Kashi bhaiya. So I just left. And nobody came to know where I went. We went to a faraway village. And then I asked the driver to stop the car outside a house. When I went inside the house, there was a man sitting inside the house. The man was a simple farmer, who had just a small farm to himself. But he had a television on which he had watched my programme. And after watching that programme, he had such an intense desire to meet me.

He would think, ‘How do I meet Guruji? I can’t afford to travel to Bangalore. I have to meet Guruji in some way or the other’. And I went and stood at the door of his very house. He got such a shock. He fell on his knees and started crying. He was a simple farmer who only grew tomatoes in his farm. His farm was less than half an acre in area. He had a small family.

Similarly, once I went to a certain school one day. I took classes for both the teachers and students there for 1-2 hours. I spoke to them. They got so excited and filled with enthusiasm. You know, villages are the foundation of our country. Listening and implementing this Knowledge in one’s life automatically makes one shine and radiate with joy. So anything is possible at any time.

Once Kishor Bhaiya (a teacher and a devotee) and I were traveling to Arunachal Pradesh from Assam. As we crossed a village in Assam, I asked the car to stop. I went inside a house and I asked him to pay Rs. 700 to the lady in the house. That lady’s husband was to undergo some operation for which she had to pay Rs 2100, but she had only Rs 1400 with herself.
She didn’t have enough money for the operation. In her temple altar, she had pictures of Kali Maa (a form of Goddess Durga) and Sri Ramakrishna Paramhamsa (an enlightened saint). She was sitting before them praying and asking God for money. So she got the money that she needed. I also met her and spent some time there. What I am saying is, this entire Nature is created and driven by One power. It is composed of the same One Tattva (element). Just as I am made up of that same element, so are you, the same Tattva.

So to whomever you bow to or perform oblations to, it reaches the same source. Now that lady had not known me. And this incident happened 20 years ago. Kishor Bhaiya was with me at that time. Even Bhanu Didi and Vinod Bhaiya were also along with Me at that time. We were just 4-5 people in the car at that time. When we met that lady, we could see she was so strong and deep in her devotion. So when we call and invoke God with a true heart, everything we wish for starts to happen.
This must have happened with so many of you. Has it not? So many miracles have happened in so many people’s lives. It has happened with everyone here (pointing to the audience). This is not surprising. It keeps happening, it’s not a big thing. If it doesn’t happen, then that is something surprising. If a miracle doesn’t happen sometime then it is wonder actually. Yes, some miracles happen instantly and some take time.

  • I am fortunate, grace helped me.

On a recent cyclone day at Mumbai, I had gone out.

I waited for long time at DN Nagar, hoping for Water logging to get clear, till around 5 PM Even BEST buses stopped plying. Finally I decided to start walking and reached near by waterlogging.

In the meantime, 2-3 vehicle started wading through Water. I requested an auto driver to take me through water logging. He obliged/ agreed without asking for extra charge.
Some how, we could go up to certain distance and we had to Stop as few other vehicle got stuck / engine stopped in water logging. My Auto Driver stopped, keeping engine on, where Water level was about knee deep.
I thought, I will have to get down as it was not possible to move ahead. I felt helpless. I thought, I will have to walk through waterlogging.
After waiting for minutes, I felt to pray for help to Gurujee. As i was praying, another auto started moving in the same direction where I wanted to go, but in the using wrong lane. My auto driver followed another auto,
I continued prayer to JGD, while auto passing through knee deep water. Although it was looking almost impossible that an auto can move without stopping, with great difficulty, my auto could pass knee deep waterlogging. I am fortunate, grace helped me.
If we trust and earnestly seek help of Gurudev, He always comes to our rescue. Thank You. JGD.

  • Sahaj Samadhi Course

I don’t believe in miracles, I rely on them. It was February 2011 and all were volunteering for the upcoming YES!+ course to be taken by Bawa and Dinesh bhaiya which was followed by YES!+ DSN and Sahaj Samadhi Course. And I was sitting in my room sad and depressed. The reason was my cousin (my elder brother) who is very close to me, was going through the toughest period of his life. He was crossing the age of marriage according to parents and relatives (he was 33) and was forced by everyone for the same. His business was at a great loss. He was under deep depression which made up his mind for suicide attempt.

He was under deep depression which made up his mind for suicide attempt.

I was sad because I was not there to support him. Moreover, I was not even doing Seva which added to my sadness. One day, my YES!+ teacher called me for dinner with other volunteers. I did not feel like going anywhere but I could not say no to him so I went. He was sitting in front of me and was reading out “I Promise” (By Guruji) to one of the volunteers. Listening to it I suddenly burst into tears and narrated him the whole thing. He said “tu aise ro rahi hai matlab tujhe apne Guru par bilkul bhi bharosa nahi hai” (If you are crying like this, it means you do not trust your Guru) He is waiting for you to give away your problemsto Him. You just have to surrender to Him. Pray to Him, have Faith and See the Magic.” His words changed something in me and that very moment I surrendered everything to Guruji and felt opened up like never before. I was smiling. Next day onwards I was doing Seva for the upcoming course. I repeated the course as well as the DSN. There is something new you learn from the course every time you do it. I almost forgot about the problems and did not talk about my brother at home. After all the courses, I went to celebrate Maha Shivratri with Guruji in Jaipur. I was fully involved in Seva and I lived, loved and enjoyed each and every moment during that period. My focus was only Guruji and His work. After coming back to Delhi, I finally spoke to my mother for around half an hour or more. And there were again tears in my eyes but this time the transformed ones (from tears of sorrow to tears of Gratitude). I was speechless, stunned, could not move for a minute. My brother who was in trouble few weeks back was now doing awesomely well. His business started to grow again and his marriage got fixed. The most miraculous part was that he was going to step into new life on 13th May. Yes, he was getting married on 13th May, on Guruji’s Birthday. “Tera Main” I could remember only these two words that moment. Guruji just did it. Just few weeks and HE changed my brother’s life. Gratitude is just a small word for HIM. Life has been a celebration since I have met Guruji. Problems just touch and go away. What remains is the immense Gratitude and Love which grow with every passing day. I have surrendered my life to HIM and Miracles just happen. Lots and lots of love.

  • I am now full of abundance and blessings

During the silver jubilee celebrations, I was the only one from the 20 participants of my Part-1 Course, who could attend the celebrations in Bangalore! At one point in life, I was so shy and now I was going all alone from Mumbai to Bangalore, an unknown place, unknown people and with no company since my group went a day before me by train.

At one point in life, I was so shy and now I was going all alone from Mumbai to Bangalore, an unknown place, unknown people and with no company since my group went a day before me by train.

But I know Gurudev was with me throughout my trip. He made all the arrangements through someone or the other to make my journey comfortable and memorable and mainly, to make me strong. Whether it was flight booking, vehicle arrangement or accommodation. He took care of everything. The most important and miraculous thing was that in the crowd of about 25-30 lakhs people at the event, i was separated from my group of about 10-12 people for the whole day even though we were on the same grounds. Secondly, I did not have the location of the place where my group and I were staying. When the Satsang was about to end, I was worried about what was going to happen and I was totally blank. All I had was the ‘I promise’ message from Gurudev, which I read somewhere on the ground and took as a personal message for me. I became totally free of any tension and worry. After the Satsang, my whole group was right ahead, waiting for me and scolding me out of love. They all promised to hold my hand for the remaining days. I gently smiled and silently told them Gurudev was with me throughout the day. All the credit goes to my magician. For me these are all miracles, but my husband, being practical still takes the credit of putting the effort himself and not by any grace. I don’t argue with him and follow my practice of Kriya, Advance Courses and Ashram visits every year and meet my Gurudev. I am now full of abundance and blessings which gurudev has showered on me. • I could not handle the pressure and stress.

I’m a first year B.Tech (Biotech) student. I stay in the college hostel itself. It’s the first time I’m staying away from home and everything seems so new! The students here are all from different-different states. I miss my home a lot. I did my Yes Plus course in the Ashram, just 2 months before my college started. And all I prayed to Guruji was to give me the courage to stay in the hostel, and I also prayed to Him to be with me, always! Just a week after college started, things started getting out of control. I could not handle the pressure and stress.

And all I prayed to Guruji was to give me the courage to stay in the hostel, and I also prayed to Him to be with me, always! Just a week after college started, things started getting out of control. I could not handle the pressure and stress.

The thought of staying away from home for such a long while was killing me. So I went back home in the first week itself. I cried a lot. I even asked my mom to get me admission in an Arts college, in my city, so that I would not have to be away from my family. All that I wanted was to stay in my home! But that was not the right thing to do, so everyone convinced me and sent me to the hostel again. It was during this time that I got the call letter for Tamil Nadu Medical counselling. I was very happy, as I had fairly good chances of getting a college in my city itself. So, with hope in my heart, I went for the counselling, but I got admission for BDS, which is located in a city nearby. I was in grave dilemma. I did not know whether I should remain where I was, or then go for BDS. To be honest, I was not too interested in BDS. But my mother wanted me to take BDS. Around this time only, my mother went to do an AMC (Advanced Meditation Course) at the Ashram. I was in a state of utter confusion as I was very interested in pursuing Astrobiology, and taking up BDS would not take me to my dream. At that time, i thought that the University where I already was is fine, and I made up my mind to stay in the hostel. But then, my mother wanted me to do BDS and not Biotech. I thought of explaining everything to my mother over the phone, so as to convince her about the aptness of my decision, and how it would fit in to my career aspirations. But unfortunately, she was in silence that time, due to the AMC, and hence could not speak with me. And also, my internals were going on in college. And If I wouldn’t attend the internals, I would lose my CGPA (score). So, I didn’t have the time to think at all. So I decided to take the final call after my internals. I then left a message on my mom’s phone, informing her about the same. Just when my internals were done, I had holidays for a while. So I went to the Ashram during the same time. There, my mother was very happy, as Guruji had blessed my allotment letter for BDS. It was at that time, that I became extremely upset and uneasy, as BDS was not my choice, it was my mothers’. So, to get some peace of mind, I went to the Sumeru Mantap (a meditation area in the ashram) and meditated. I also wrote a letter to Gurudev, telling Him that I wanted Him to be with me in whichever course I pursued. Everyone was explaining to me that since Gurudev Himself had blessed the BDS course, I should definitely go ahead and pursue the same, and should not think of continuing with my current course. Though this was not what I had expected, something inside of me said to me that everything was going to be fine. I felt as though Guruji was holding my hands. I then spoke to my mother and explained my view point, regarding my career, to her. I convinced her that what I am doing as of now is the right thing and asked her to have faith in me. After that, my mom was ok with my decision of continuing with my course and not taking up BDS. This gave me a bit of relief. As I went back to college after the holidays, I felt some sort of restlessness. I felt as though I had ignored my mother’s feelings. I felt as though I had not obeyed my Master. A lot of such thoughts kept surfacing in my mind, every now and then. I did not feel comfortable with my decision. But everything just vanished in a fraction of seconds, when I heard that Gurudev was coming to my college! I wasn’t able to believe my ears! Wow wh at a feeling that was!!! And again, a slightly tough situation came up. I had my model practicals on the same day that Gurudev was to visit my college, from 2 – 5 pm. Guruji was to be in college from 3 – 4 pm for a talk. I tried a lot to complete my practicals before time, but was not able to do so. So on completing the practicals, I came out of the lab anxiously, hoping that Gurudev would still be around. And there I heard HIM speaking! The voice I’d love to hear always, all the time! I ran to the hall and sat in the front row, where there was a vacant seat, as though it had been kept reserved for me! Gurudev was there till 5.30 pm, imparting some beautiful knowledge points! After the talk was over, He proceeded towards His car. My friends and I were standing near His side. Suddenly, He opened the door, and came out of the car. We were all stunned with happiness. I then touched His lotus feet for the first time, and He smiled at me! I can still feel the bliss of that moment. I then remembered the letter I had written to My Master, and the silent promise that He had made! That HE IS ALWAYS WITH ME, WHEREVER I GO. And Yes, He proved it to me, literally. I am just so happy with my life now, for I know that HE is with me, always. Thank you, Gurudev. JGD.

  • MBA In The US – Dream Fulfilled

I would like to share my story with Guruji, right from the scratch. Well, the journey started in the year 2009. I got into Engineering College. I then did the Art of Living Basic course, but couldn’t continue doing Short Kriya on a regular basis.

I would like to share my story with Guruji, right from the scratch. Well, the journey started in the year 2009. I got into Engineering College. I then did the Art of Living Basic course, but couldn’t continue doing Short Kriya on a regular basis.

You know the engineering life. I would find it difficult to make time. But at the end, I knew I could if I really wanted to. As they say “Nothing is impossible!” Then in 2012, Guruji visited my home in Durgapur (West-Bengal). My parents are active volunteers serving AOL since years. Well, it was that day which changed my life completely. Guruji spoke with me for a while, and I showed my urge to study abroad. He just asked me one question “Kriya karte ho daily”? (Do you do your kriya daily?). Then, I replied “Haan Gurudev, kabhi kabhi” (Yes Guruji, sometimes). He saw my expression and gave me a smile and said “Har din kiya karo”(you must do it daily). He then asked me “Tumhe sach mein jaana hai USA padhne”? (Do you really want to go in the US and study ?) I said “Yes Guruji, I eagerly want to go! He then kept His hand on my head for a while and blessed me saying “Dont worry ho jaayega! ” (Don’t worry it will happen) It was from that day, when He blessed me that I started doing my Kriya after months. I then got admits from Universities and I was on cloud nine. Usually, the Visa interviews are difficult to crack, but you might not believe me when I say, I had my interview only for 30 seconds. I was just asked what my parents do and I was instantly approved the Visa. All doors seemed to be opening for me slowly. I went to the States and studied well, with all my focus and dedication. But there were still some closed doors. Life is not all that easy, after all. In the course of my exams, I had a subject due in engineering. This was my last chance to clear it. If not this time, then it would cost me thousands of dollars, as all of my fees were paid for university abroad. I had my return flight on August 9, and the result came out just 2 days before that. I took a sigh of relief. I had finally cleared it! I am just so grateful to Guruji for being with me through my testing times and sailing me through, all victorious!!! Another positive change that took place in my life after coming to USA was that I started going to long Kriya weekly sessions and started doing the short Kriya regularly. This gave me a whole lot of steadiness in my life. Coming to the present, I was searching for an internship in USA for summer. And with His constant blessing, I got into IBM. Well, you all may think “So big deal!” But it truly is a big deal. Getting an internship in USA is a whole lot of big deal, and that too with such a well reputed brand. I applied only to one company and I got through it. I was the first one in my class to get Internship. This beautiful and fruitful journey of mine would have never been possible without my Masters support. Don’t underestimate the power of a Guru in your life. Just keep a positive thought and keep focus on what you want. The Guru will take care of it. You just need to walk ahead, and the path will be created for you. And always show your gratitude towards Him, that’s very important. I sincerely hope and pray that each one of your dreams gets fulfilled, just like mine did. Jai Guru Dev. Regards,

  • I have firm belief

On 22 November, 2012, which was a very special day of my life, I entered into the magical world of the Art of Living. I did the Part1, Yes!+ and DSN courses. I heard a lot about the Advance Course, but did not get a chance to do the course because it was a full day course of four days and somehow I was not able to take leave for it.

JGD

  • The Best Interviewer – My Guru

We all know that meeting Guruji is a great task and definitely an opportunity that we all seek. But He has his own ways. With a magician like him around, miracles are sure to happen and mine too was one such miracle. Meeting my life partner is only Guru’s grace. Ram is a wonderful person but I had made up my mind that I was going to do whatever Guruji said. As I was coming back with Guruji from Amritsar to Delhi in the same flight,

Ram is a wonderful person but I had made up my mind that I was going to do whatever Guruji said. As I was coming back with Guruji from Amritsar to Delhi in the same flight,

I was sure that I would get a good chance to talk to Him. There would be less number of people on board and all would be well behaved and would not mob him. Getting a chance to speak with Guruji, I immediately asked Him whether I should get married. He replied saying “Yes Of course”. I told Guruji that He would have to meet the boy and take his interview. All along, my mind wondered how that would be possible. I also told Guruji my problems and setup. He yet told me to go ahead. Once again I repeated that I would do so only if Guruji met him and took his interview, and once again He said a yes. I asked Him how, when and where would that happen. He did not say anything. I was confused because Guruji had said He would meet Ram but hadn’t said how or where He would meet him. Gurujis recent visit to Borivali, Mumbai was what cleared my confusion. Ram and I got the opportunity of being a part of security for the house Guruji was to stay in. This made me realize that whatever Guruji had promised at the Delhi airport was coming true. Had He already planned this? Quite surprisingly through the whole event and even by the end of the day, nothing had happened. He did not call us to speak to Him. At night, however, Guruji was meeting all the volunteers at the ground. Being on duty, Ram and I were unable to go there either. But at the house, having met everybody, Guruji came back at the door and to my surprise asked Ram “Haan Ram, kya karte ho? Kaise ho? Shaadi karni hai?” (Yes Ram, what do you do? How are you? Do you want to get married?) He hugged him and took him to His room. After speaking to Ram, Guruji told me, ”Haan shaadi karlo” (Yes, you can marry him!) He had spoken to Ram and brought him along and told me to go ahead with the marriage. This meant Guruji had actually taken his interview. This is how Guruji works wonders for those without appointments. Each one is special for Guruji! He can do what he wishes and even when He doesn’t reply, it means a lot. It means He has planned something in the future.

  • It was still unbelievable.

In July 2018, i came to Canada to join my husband and was filled with mixed emotions as i left my family, friends, job, independence and teachers behind. Though i was thankful to Gurudev that i got the opportunity to travel to Canada to experience a new country and culture but i had my doubts about finding a new job.

Though i was thankful to Gurudev that i got the opportunity to travel to Canada to experience a new country and culture but i had my doubts about finding a new job.

After learning from friends in Canada, that it takes minimum 6 months to find a job here and that i might want to start working in a departmental store, at stations ( not de-meaning any jobs). I was really sad deep down inside as i have financial responsibilities, missing my financial independence. I started doing my sudarshan kriya, meditation and Guru-Puja Chanting every single day. After two and a half month, i got my working visa.I have started applying to so many places, but no response. Then one day, i reached out to HR of Accounting Firm and next morning i saw a reply from her for an interview. I had only 6-7 hours to prepare for the interview. I was scared as i didn’t have much technical experience in taxation, i was continuously praying to Gurudev that the interviewers dont ask me any technical questions. Then finally the interview day came, i did my “Anxiety meditation”, sudarshan kriya, chanting and took blessings and miracle happens, not even a single technical question was ask and it was a cake-walk for me. Next day i got a call that i had got the job. It was still unbelievable. When Gurudev is with you, you dont need to worry. he takes care off you each and every moment. Love you Guruji.

  • I fell very ill with Rheumatoid Arthritis

I fell very ill with Rheumatoid Arthritis in early 2008. Although this auto-immune condition runs in my family, I was a very healthy individual and it was an unexpected blow. I underwent treatment in Allopathy, Homeopathy and Ayurveda to no avail. The condition has a mind of its own and would not respond to anything. I approached the AOL Panchakarma centre in Bangalore. The Doctor there asked me if i had done the Sudarshan Kriya course. I said no. She prescribed some medicine and advised me to do the Sudarshan Kriya course and then come back for further treatment.

I couldn’t understand why she wanted me to do some course instead of undergoing treatment. I however saw that she was a thorough professional so I took her advice and signed up for a Happiness program close to our home. My husband also did it with me. During the course, I felt good doing the Kriya but i cannot say I was very deeply influenced or anything like that. I practised the Short Kriya regularly because the teacher told us to. The arthritic pains continued to increase and I got no relief.
One day a couple of months later, out of irritation and a feeling of being badly let down, I decided not to do the Kriya any more. That night, in a dream, I heard Guruji’s voice saying “Soham” just once. I could not see Him but i felt His presence strongly and heard His voice.
The next day, although I wrote off the experience as only a dream, I continued with the practice and till date I have not broken it. My health condition improved very gradually until 7 years later I was able to live a near normal life with minimal medication.
This story is not about a miracle cure. My gains are far greater. I learnt to accept the circumstances in my life and understand it in the context of Karma and spiritual growth. I feel Guruji’s love and grace every day through the Kriya and Sahaj Samadhi Dhyan. He need not have bothered with someone who didn’t wholeheartedly believe in Him, but He did and still does. The wisdom and humour in Guruji’s Knowledge Points has a way of stepping into my mind whenever I need it. I have much to be thankful for. The list is too long to mention here and many experiences are so subtle that I cannot put them into words.
This story would not be complete without thanking the Doctors, AOL teachers and volunteers who practice Guruji’s wisdom to bring millions around the world to His Sharan. It is a job that takes hard work and total surrender.

  • The Light In The Dark

When I find myself lost in the darkness of life, You are the light that guides me through strife. When I’m plagued with doubts and fears, You bring the certainty that dries my tears. My limited view of the world you expand, Guiding me with your wise and steady hand. In times of guilt and feelings of being a victim, You remind me of the infinity of my soul within. Nature’s warmth has always been present, But it’s through you that I truly feel its essence. When life’s storms tear me apart, You gather my pieces and mend my heart. The vastness of my heart’s ocean, Is something I could never explore alone. You’ve dived deep and showed me the way, Leading me to where my heart’s treasures lay. In times of abandonment and feeling alone, You are the shore where I find my home. You make me see God everywhere I look, For your presence fills my world like an open book. When memories of a brutal past cause me pain, You bring healing flames that soothe my soul again. Of all the things in life that I hold dear, You are the one I adore most without any fear. In the world we’ve built together so naive, You are the best I could ever have and truly believe.

  • HE will give you ample of results and abundance of opportunities and oceans full of adventures.

He fulfills all our desires without us realising that its fulfilled. Life can turn 180° anytime. Be a Bhakt, be an Antewasi. I asked for a job and He gave me in one of the best ones within 30 days.

So I used to take regular Daily Sadhana for our small group, online. But particularly from 1st of June 2021 I started saying this Sankalpa after our Kriya, “Gurudev I want a nice job/ business with a basic salary of that of a Travel Consultant or skills to earn the equivalent”. I used to repeat this prayer every day after our Group Sadhana and that too without any cravings of the desire to get it fulfilled.
After a continuous streak of several months, all of a sudden I stopped taking Group Sadhana for our Group for one week in July 2021 and also didn’t do my Kriya for 10 Days at a stretch. (you can relate if you have been doing SKY for 5+ years). Completely not so enthusiastic about the course, I didn’t even do enough seva for ‘Guru Purnima Course’.
One first day of course, Friday I got a call from one of the companies that I had applied on LinkedIn which I had found just by randomly scrolling in the jobs section. Thanks to being a tech head, somehow His sattva pulled me to at least manage the basic responsibilities at the course. The last day special session with Gurudev was so inspiring that I again decided to take Group Sadhana from Monday.
And the big news broke in, on Tuesday. The company that I had vaguely applied for, turned to be a big Concierge Service Company. Whose parent company is an international company with its presence in 80+ countries. He fulfilled my Sankalpa within just like 30 days and I didn’t realise it until now (ie. 2nd August)
Lesson – Keep having faith, keep doing his work, keep taking actions for your career & life. And when the time is right HE will give you ample of results and abundance of opportunities and oceans full of adventures. Forever in gratitude to be on the path & experience this face of Grace. Jai Guru Dev.

  • The Mysterious Ways Of The Divine: Unfolding The Unknown Blessings

The year was 2001, and I was supposed to travel to Kuwait from Abu Dhabi to teach the Sudarshan kriya course, the Basic Course. The flight was scheduled for 2 pm, and I had to leave home by 12 noon latest.

The volunteers had worked enthusiastically, and a lot of people had registered for the course. But at 11 am, I was lying in bed with a 103-degree fever, wondering how I would even make the trip, let alone teach the evening batch scheduled for 7:30 pm. Just then, the phone rang. It was Mohammed Salim, a Yemeni national who had participated in my Abu Dhabi batch of the Basic course conducted a few months ago. Mohammed asked how I was doing, and I told him about my illness and my impending travel plans. Without hesitation, he told me not to worry and that he would be at my place in five minutes to help me get well enough to fly. Mohammed is a healer who practices the Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), and his gentle and affectionate approach helped me immensely. After just a short time, my fever went down, and I felt well enough to take a cold shower, dress up, and head to the airport. I made it to the flight on time and taught the course as scheduled. Later, when Mohammed came to visit me, I asked him how he had known to call me. He said that he had a strong feeling that I was unwell and had called to check on me. That experience taught me that the ways of the divine are mysterious, and that He makes sure that both His devotees and His work are taken care of. Fast forward to 2022 September, when I was invited to teach the Advanced Meditation Program in Khargar, Navi Mumbai. Once again, I found myself unwell, with unexplained fatigue and a severe eye problem. I was traveling alone from Bangalore, and I jokingly asked my husband if he was worried about me. He replied that he knew that the divine would take care of me, and that He was very selfish when it came to getting His work done. His faith and intimacy with the divine made me wonder if my own faith was as strong as his.
  • What a miracle

We all are well versed with the way we behave when GURUJI is our town, right? And no matter how many teachers educate us on how to behave, we end up being just the opposite! One such was my story.

It was a great day for all of us studying in IIT Delhi. Guruji was to visit us that day! We sat in the IIT common room for the volunteer’s session with Avinash Tiku, who was preparing us for Guruji’s upcoming visit to Delhi, explaining to us that it is not wise to ‘chase’ the Master, especially when He is in our own city, and that it is way more important for us to ensure that new members of the Art of living, or the new volunteers should get their own moments with Guruji. This made complete sense to almost all of us in that room. Guruji was in Delhi the next day, big reason to be happy. But a bigger reason was that He had agreed to give an hour of His time to all the YES!+ volunteers. This much awaited session was being organised by a dynamic group of teachers and volunteers in an auditorium in South Delhi. My duty for that particular day was to ensure that every individual in the IIT campus, who was interested in meeting Sri Sri, should get a fair chance to meet Him! We quickly floated messages, emails and pasted posters in the campus and decided on meeting at the “round-about” at 5 pm sharp (for the session was to begin at 6:30 pm). As usual, by the time we gathered our friends and acquaintances, it was already 6pm! No one wanted to miss meeting Guruji, and so to ease the restlessness in the volunteers, I started sending them in groups in different autos that were available. Finally at 6:25 pm, it was just the four of us left. We quickly grabbed the last auto and asked him to fly us to the auditorium. All of us were extremely happy that we would finally get to meet our master after months of wait; we were deciding on different kinds of questions we would ask Him, and while our excitement grew, my phone rang. It was an unknown number. I hurriedly picked up my phone and a girl spoke to me; she was incidentally from my hostel. She had not done the AOL programme yet, but was very eager to meet Sri Sri. She was in her first year and felt terribly scared to travel alone. A big dilemma set into me, for it had already been 10 minutes since we had crossed the IIT campus, so going back to the campus and picking up that girl clearly meant we lose out on 30 minutes with Guruji. This was a struggle between my conscience and my mind, and well, my conscience won! We reversed our auto and decided to go back and pick up that girl from my hostel gate. It was 7 pm and we were now 5 of us, and no-where near the auditorium! My mind was in a state of complete chaos – “What if I miss Him?”, “What about my question?”, “Will I get a seat so that I at least get a glimpse of Him?”, “Please GURUJI, delay this event”, “Oh! Why do I always have to be nice”, “Why can’t autos have wings? We finally reached the venue at 7:20 pm, almost an hour late. But then what happened next was completely inexplicable! We ran towards the main entrance, and this tall lanky guard stopped us. He said to us, “This is not the right entrance for you, I will suggest another entrance”. He pointed at some door. We didn’t argue much, nor did we apply our heads, we just barged into the door. I was running first, and behind me were my four friends. The door was just leading us onto some sort of a maze, a maze made up of cardboards and flower pots, and I was convinced that we had lost our way. We still kept running, and before we could even realize anything, we saw ourselves standing on the stage, with Guruji staring at us! WOW! What a miracle. Inadvertently, the guard had made us enter the auditorium through the backstage!! Guruji saw the four of us and laughed and told us to sit on the stage itself (as the auditorium was jam packed). I was so grateful. A few moments ago I had been grumbling and complaining to myself, while just the next moment, I was sitting right under the nose of my Master and blushing, as HE winked at me saying “Happy?” JGD.

  • Changed My Life

There was a time in my life when the only thing that used to go on in my mind; how to commit suicide. I was tired and frustrated and I just wanted life to end. I used to keep thinking of several ways by which I could commit suicide. One day I was told about the Art of Living Part 1 course.

I went for it and believe me, after doing the Kriya only once; I fell in love with it. When I came back home after the course my mother was very surprised to see me. She said that I am looking cheerful and energetic. I told her that I am going to make Guruji my spiritual Guru. Since then I became a dedicated devotee. The Sudarshan Kriya has all by itself changed my life. Earlier, I used to feel very tired, lazy and lethargic. I used to get irritated very soon and even the smallest things would irritate me. I would not talk much; just remain silent all the time. My mother would also wonder why I always looked tired and pale. She would always tell me to talk and get some liveliness in me. But at that time all these things were impossible for me. After doing the Kriya each and every single day, without fail, I was filled with a lot of positive energy, due to which I am still living and now I enjoy life. Now whenever I get a problem, I don’t crib about it but instead, I only focus on how to solve that particular problem. Things which used to irritate me earlier don’t bother me at all. Life has become better, easier and happier. All this was possible only because of the Sudarshan Kriya and Guruji’s Blessings.

  • I had opened a new dimension in my life

The day I attended my first Art of Living course, I knew I had opened a new dimension in my life. It felt like my consciousness had awakened. Until then, I was a very logical person and hadn’t realized how stubborn I had become.

However, thanks to AOL, my life changed for the better. I always assumed problems were gender specific. I used to think it’s easy for men to overcome their problems but not for me, I was getting vacuumed into all my issues. Luckily, this thinking has changed. We all face problems. Challenges do not escape anyone. It’s up to us to enjoy our lives and appreciate the ups and downs it brings us. Everything is a lesson. Through the course, I understood the importance of self-discovery. I learnt to accept all my problems and deal with them correctly. It gave me the gift of insight. Especially the insight into our culture and the importance of passing all of this down to the generations to come. My anger and stubbornness was seamlessly converted into positive energy. The list of good things is endless. My husband was diagnosed with early Parkinson’s disease. We discovered this one year into our marriage. I had AOL so I found a way to better manage my personal and professional life with this new information. This led to reduced conflicts in my mind and therefore, my life. My family atmosphere only kept improving and my husband’s stress level reduced. He is very fit and active, fighting his way through, despite having Parkinson’s for the last 12 years. I know none of this would be possible in the absence of grace. Thank you. Jai Guru Dev.

  • A Divine Connection: My Experience Receiving A Message From Gurudev

This is a story about how a chance encounter changed my life forever. After completing my final year MBBS university exams, I eagerly searched for the dates on which Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar would be at the Bangalore ashram, as I had decided to attend the Advanced Meditation Program when he would be there.

Despite my dad’s advice to check airfare, I booked a bus ticket from Pune to Bangalore. One day before my departure, I received a call from the ashram that the Youth Special course had been postponed to March 28th due to Guruji’s presence at the ashram during that time. I was given an option to join the other course in Bangalore which was starting on March 2nd. I arrived at the ashram on the morning of February 28th and decided to explore it the next day as I had a free day before the course started. The next morning, I thought of texting Shivprasad Sir, my teacher who took the course in 2022, to see if by chance he was in the ashram and could meet with me. He replied that he was in Bangalore, but he didn’t stay in the ashram. He lived about 25 minutes away and invited me to his house if it was convenient for me. I agreed and decided to go to his house by cab. I arrived at his house in the afternoon, and we started chatting about my exams, life in general, and my plans for the holidays. I also told him that I had a desire to meet Guruji, but his tour to Bangalore got cancelled. During our conversation, I received a notification message on my phone that read “Love and Blessings.” I was stunned because the message was from Gurudev Sri Sri Ravishankar himself. Shivprasad Sir took my phone in his hand, looked at it, and after a few seconds, he took out his phone and checked something. He laughed and said to me, “Not his secretary or assistant, but Gurudev himself has personally messaged you. This is his magic.” If I had checked the fares, I definitely wouldn’t have traveled overnight by bus. Instead, I could have flown as the airplane ticket prices were lower than the bus fares, maybe due to the off-season. If I hadn’t traveled by bus, I wouldn’t have received a message from Guruji. When I was in the bus, I was very bored and continuously on YouTube, and Guruji was live on YouTube, saying, “There’s an application called ELYMENTS like WhatsApp, download it, it’s much more secure than WhatsApp and promote it in society.” Without a single thought, I downloaded the application. The first person who messaged me on this so-called ELYMENTS APPLICATION was Guruji himself. Jai Gurudev,

  • I was suffering for 2 long years with bleeding in my intestines

If I say that I am grateful, I am thankful or anything else for that matter, it does not suffice. Nothing that I say can ever express the love that I feel for Gurudev.

I was suffering for 2 long years with bleeding in my intestines. Surgery did not help, and neither did the various medicines that I kept trying. I ate healthy and worked out, but all in vain. On the outside I was a fit young lady, but inside I was broken. The breaking point came when one day, in January 2013, I suddenly could not breathe. As my husband rushed me to the hospital, my breathing became very laborious and my body became paralyzed. But through my struggle to breathe, I kept hearing a voice telling me not to worry as I had experienced something similar (fast breathing) in the Sudershan Kriya. It kept getting tougher and tougher to breathe, with each breath. In a matter of minutes, I could see my world crashing and I quickly started bidding goodbye to my husband and my young children. In my mind, I surrendered and peacefully prepared myself to leave this world behind. Then I lost consciousness. After a while, I regained consciousness and was told that my potassium level had dipped to 2.6 and at that critically low level, my heart beat could have stopped. After getting treated at the hospital for a few days, I returned home to a slow recovery. But still, the weakness would not leave me and the bleeding never stopped making me weaker each day. I suspected some disease to be eating at my body and felt I would not be able to see my children grow up. Doubts and fears would creep up every now and then, though I tried my best to be centred with Sadhna (Practice) and meditation. Guru’s Grace Finally, the day came, and I met Him (Sri Sri) on the auspicious occasion of Guru Poornima. As I walked into the meditation hall, He was already seated on stage. As soon as I saw Him, I froze in my spot. All of a sudden, He turned, and looked directly at me and smiled….His beautiful smile. Then while He met everyone individually for blessings, He looked at me, with a sparkle in His eyes and said, “Haan”. Just the way He says it!!! He blessed me, and I could almost hear His unsaid words that were telling me that happiness is on my way and that He is here for me. I came back miraculously healed, without any weakness, and the bleeding just vanished, as if it never existed. My doctor also smiled when I told him. There is nothing else to do but to smile. It’s all the Masters Grace. He gives us so much that He leaves no option but to be happy and to look forward to all the loving surprises He has in store for us. He keeps giving me strength and love to live with happiness and confidence. If He is by my side, then the whole world is mine. Jai Guru Dev.

  • Transcending True Love

I was never a big follower of any Guru. The whole concept was alien to me. My elder sister on the other hand was devoted to Guruji. She insisted that I do the Yes!+ course but I dodged it for more than a year. Then she gifted me a book, ‘Stumbling into Infinity’ by Michael Fischman. The book told the tale of Michael, one of the first followers of Guruji and how his life had transformed.

When I finished the book, I was in awe and couldn’t wait to do the course. Luckily for me, I found out from a friend that the next course was happening in two weeks. However, my final exams were to begin the day after the course ends so I was apprehensive but my friend convinced me to do it. I thoroughly enjoyed the course and the Sudarshan Kriya experience was magical. After my course and exams, I flew to the US to meet my sister. We went to Los Angeles to volunteer for Upanishads, a discourse by Guruji that was going to take place over three days. Everyone told me I was very lucky to meet him just three weeks after my course. On the first day, Guruji met everyone present in groups of twenty. I was looking forward to meeting him and my sister suggested I write down whatever I wanted to tell him. When my group went in to meet him, he floated in the room with his ever-glowing smile and blessed everyone with a rose. While blessing me he asked, ‘Are you happy?’ Now when I think of it, I feel it was more of a blessing, like he was reminding me that I am happy. When I walked out of the room and back to the satsang, I felt total bliss. I sat next to my sister and started crying, completely clueless of the reason behind my outburst. I was wondering what had taken over me. I realized that this was because for the first time in my love I had felt the power of true love, which only a Guru can give. After two months, I came back to Mumbai and within a week I got an internship of three months with one of the best news agencies and my work was well-appreciated. At the same time, I became a volunteer for the Yes!+ courses and my connection to Guruji became deeper than ever. Guruji is responsible for a change in all our lives and he is always transcending his love in different forms. I feel tremendously lucky to be his devotee.

  • Miraculous escape from death

”If that unseen Force had not pushed us out of the flood waters, we would have surely drowned. This was nothing but a miraculous escape from death, thanks to the Master.” says MAKRAND JADHAV, one of the leading trainers for the Art of Living’s Youth Leadership Training Programme.

It was a late night in August 2011 and my friend and I were driving home from Katepur Village in Latur. It was raining heavily and there was water-logging all along the route. We were driving through an incessant heavy downpour and we could barely see the road ahead of us.
Suddenly, we realised that we were on a slope and the car started slipping off the road. We frantically applied the brakes and to our utter dismay, the car spiralled and did a 90 degree turn. The car started sinking as it entered a gushing water stream. For a moment it looked like a huge monster waiting to swallow us up. We lowered the windows, so that we could jump off. Suddenly, our car hit a tree and came to a halt. The tree was our only hope, and with our feet wedged in a firm foothold; we wrapped our knees around the tree and reached out to clutch its branches.
I was in a state of shock and started trembling involuntarily only to realize that was my body’s way of conserving energy. I tried to focus on retaining my foothold. The water had started rising above the bonnet and here i was holding on to the branch with baited breath trying to calm myself and think logically. It then struck me to attempt to call my family. The mobile was completely wet, yet i managed to get through to them – a miracle of Grace.
What happened next was absolutely shocking, a near death experience for us. The car was thrown up with the water pressure and was almost hitting us. We released our grip on the tree and fell into the water. The torrential rains continued and now we were just being swept by the flood waters. We silently prayed to our Master, Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar. Suddenly, as though some powerful force came to our rescue and we found ourselves being pushed out of the water. This came as such a relief to both of us who were in a state of complete panic.
Finally, the intensity of the rain subsided and we were safely evacuated by family and friends who had reached there. Many people visited us to hear about our experience. Within me, I knew that I had survived this ordeal only because of the Grace of my Master. Battling through raging flood waters in the pitch dark not humanly possible. If that unseen Force had not pushed us out of the flood waters, we would have surely drowned. This was nothing but a miraculous escape from death, thanks to the Master.
This experience has given me realisation of an inner strength that i never knew I possessed – only through my Master’s Grace. This Grace has empowered me from within and given me immense courage to take all challenges in my stride. Come what come may, I know there is an unseen hand that takes me through all adversities of life.
  • Sri Sri Knows It All

I had been to the Bangalore ashram for the first time, this year in January. My aunt had requested me to give her letter to Guruji. The letter was sealed in an envelope.

I promised her that I would give the envelope to Guruji, in His hand, to which she said that she would love it if I gave it directly to Him, but since it gets really crowded in the ashram, I might have to put it in the basket. What she said was very true, but I knew how important it was for this letter to reach Him, so I made a strong Sankalpa in my heart for the same. Since this was the first time I was visiting the ashram, I did not really know how to reach the place, and was travelling with a friend, who too was going to Bangalore for the very first time. Eventually, I landed up meeting 50 more volunteers in the train, who were also headed to the ashram. They had an appointment with Guruji. They asked us to come along to meet Guruji. “This was the best time to hand over my aunt’s letter!” I thought to myself. I was extremely grateful to Gurudev for having made me meet these volunteers, and for getting such an opportunity to connect to Him. We had an appointment with Guruji that very evening. I carried with me, my aunt’s letter, in my handbag. Then Guruji entered the room. I was awestruck! This was the first time I was meeting Him personally. Space! I was totally spaced out !! I was in a different world altogether. The feeling is truly unexplainable. I completely forgot about the envelope at that time. Guruji blessed me and went ahead. I was still blankly staring at HIM. He then turned around and asked me “Tumhaare paas jo envelope hain, voh do..laaye ho na tum “(Give me the envelope that you have, you have brought it right?). I just stood surprised for a few seconds, not understanding what was happening. How did He know about the envelope??? I then opened my bag and gave HIM the envelope. He blessed me again and left ! HE did not JUST leave, HE left me with GRATITUDE, and a feeling that – YES HE IS ALWAYS THERE WITH ME, HE KNOWS IT ALL. Swamiji had once told me “Guruji is there!”. Yes He is. Jai Guru Dev.

  • Everything that happened was flawless with divine intervention

The Divine can come to you in any form at any time. Gurudev came to my rescue in the form of that labourer at a crucial time.

About a decade ago, I went to Jaipur to teach a few Art of Living courses. On reaching my host family’s home, I left my suitcases in the room and rushed to the building across the road where lunch had been organised by some teachers.
I had barely reached the building, and slipped and fell on a small slope at the entrance. To my utter dismay, what i thought was a slight sprain, was actually a broken ankle – broken
into two pieces. My left foot was kind of dangling on the side and here i was in a blanked out mindless state, making desperate attempts to straighten my foot.
Some labourers from an adjacent construction saw me do that. One of them came running, sat down next to me and stopped me from trying to straighten my foot. He had a look of such concern and compassion on his face and it was his loving expression that pulled me out of my desperate and mindless attempts with my foot. The moment was so so reassuring.
Thereafter I was rushed in an ambulance to a hospital and the orthopaedic surgeon said that had i continued trying to straighten the foot, i would have ended up with a permanent limp while walking post the surgery.
With the necessary dressing and bandaging done, i was on a flight back to Mumbai. As luck would have it, I was given two adjacent empty seats at no charge; so that i could comfortably sit and stretch my leg. On landing at Mumbai, was taken straight to the hospital and surgery was done.
The point is that for years I wondered if my Gurudev truly knew what I was going through whenever there were those lonely, grim cloudy days in my life. I would wonder whether ‘HE was here with me and for me’. I would hear of many devotees sharing how HE would call them at that very moment when they needed HIM the most. But that day I realised, the Divine can come to you in any form at any time. Gurudev came to my rescue in the form of that labourer at a crucial time and I was saved.
Everything that happened was flawless with divine intervention – the labourers, the surgeon, the flight back, the surgery and my recovery.
All I can say is my GURUDEV is with me moment to moment. I feel HIS profound Presence every moment of my life and when I am asked to share my Guru Grace story and the miracles in my life all I can truly say is. I AM THE MIRACLE. Strip His Grace off me and I wouldn’t even exist.

  • So many miracles have happened in so many people's lives

  • I am eternally grateful.

I’m lucky to have learnt meditation and to have been initiated on the spiritual path at age 12 when most kids of my age were perhaps finding their bearings.

A few years after meeting Gurudev, I heard that he was transiting through Delhi. A strong urge to meet him surfaced each time he was in town and gripped me with characteristic immoderation.
A group of fellow 10th graders were going to the airport to seek Gurudev’s blessings on the eve of the board exams, and my friend asked me to join them.
My desire to meet him, overcame the nervousness for the impending exams yet left me with no yearning to ask for blessing for good grades. My thoughts were that seeking blessings for exams were rather inconsequential to the fact that I was just going to be in HIS presence.
So here I was with an excited bunch of teenagers, all clamouring for Gurudev’s attention, quite different from my earlier customary interactions with him, which had been just silent exchanges, with no need for words to communicate.
True to form, our gang of 55 year olds was a boisterous lot at the airport, all simultaneously talking and vying for Gurudev’s attention. Amidst the frenzy, Gurudev took out a wooden pencil in his hand, seemingly leaning forward to give one of us this prized gift.
His question ‘Who wants this pencil’? was met with rapturous excitement from the group, all moving towards Gurudev. I on the other hand, was a silent bystander with my eyes transfixed on Gurudev, kind of oblivious of this unfolding drama.
All of a sudden, I saw Gurudev looking straight into my eyes, as he leaned forward and held his hand forward with the pencil in it towards me. As our eyes locked together, my hand spontaneously opened up, and Gurudev placed the pencil in it.
I have never experienced a more surreal moment. From not wanting any special blessings for the exams to receiving the most coveted gift from the Master, I had momentarily blanked out and could not process what had happened.
Gurudev gave me his all-knowing smile and taught me the greatest lesson that day. For one who is content, all the desires are fulfilled even before they arise. Needless to say, I aced my 10th grade board exams and also every school exam thereafter.
I also graduated with distinction in both, my bachelor’s and master’s programme and received the highest academic honours of the respective universities I attended.
As a metaphorical reminder of the ultimate writer of my destiny, the wooden pencil continues to bring me success in every aspect of life. For the master’s love and his ever-flowing grace that the pencil embodies, I am eternally grateful.

  • Shri Jagannath means the Lord of the Worlds

    Understanding Lord Jagannath

    आत्मानं रथिनं विद्धि शरीरं रथमेव तु।
    बुद्धिं तु सारथिं विद्धि मनः प्रगहमेव च॥
Katha Upanishad said Our body is the chariot and our very Self or soul is its charioteer, intellect is its driver, the mind is its reins, the sense organs are the horses pulling the chariot. The philosophical interpretation through Yogic practices this chariot will start its spiritual journey towards Paramatma, where lies the Parama Dhama, the abode of ever blissful state. The Yogic way in order to realize Lord Jagannath has to start the spiritual journey from the root chakra to the crown chakra raising the Kundalini to the Sahasrara where Lord Jagannath is placed on the Ratna Simhasana.
Lord Shri Ram had 12 kalas, Shri Krishna had 16 and at present during Kaliyuga silently sitting and watching as Lord Jagannath; Jagath(world) + Nath (lord). Jagat is the spinal cord consisting of various Chakras starting from Muladhara Chakra up to Ajna Chakra and Natha is the Supreme Soul of the Crown Chakra, Sahasrara. The 16 Kalas of Sri Krishna are the divine arts or attributes of Sri Krishna that makes him Purna Avatar (the complete avatar).
Five Kalas like 1) Anna Maya (with cereals), 2) Pranamaya (with breath), 3) Mano Maya (with mind), 4) Vigyanamaya (with knowledge) and 5) Anandamaya (with joy) are present in every human being. With little effort, humans can perfect in three more kalas – 6) Atishayini, (With Peace) 7) Viparinabhimi (With Love) and 8) Sankramini. (With Creator)
The other remaining eight Kalas are 9) Prabhvi. 10) Kunthini, 11) Vikasini, 12) Maryadini, 16) Sanhaladini, 14) Ahladini,1 5) Paripurna and 16) Swarupavasthit : Anybody who has the ninth Kala besides the first five natural Kalas and next three perfected Kalas, becomes the god.
As per scriptures, the ninth kalas Prabhvi means : Kartum Akartum, that is able to do seemingly impossible tasks. Lord Narasinh is an example of this ninth Kala. Lord Narasinh has an altogether different appearance. He had a body of human and head of a lion. He appeared from a stone pillar that demon Hiranyakashipu had broken with a blow of his mace. It is not possible for an ordinary human being, only a God, having the ninth Kala Prabhvi, can do this. Among all these incarnations, only Lord Krishna is full of all the sixteen Kalas.
In this scriptural appearance Lord Krishna holds nothing but only a seemingly ordinary flute. Even the flute of Lord Krishna is full of all the Kalas and is a symbol of love. In his entire life. Lord Krishna only once raised a weapon, that to in the form of wheel during the battle of Mahabharata, to protect the vow of Pitamaha Bheeshma. Otherwise, only the flute was everything for him. Like a magic stick the flute accompanied Lord Krishna all through his life. With the enchanting tone of the flute, Lord Krishna hypnotized the world (Sammohana) hence, Lord Krishna is also known as Mohana; one that hypnotizes or enchants.
One must learn from it that one must have unconditional love for all the organisms in the word. If one has true, unconditional love for everyone, the world will one day bow before him, very much like when Lord Krishna played enchanting tunes on his flute in Vrindavana, and all the womenfolk and Gopis of Vraja gathered around him, Keeping all their shyness and social bindings at bay. Thus that tune of Lord Krishna’s flute was a symbol of love. And love has no limits, no bindings.
Shri Jagannath means the Lord of the Worlds, and it is Lord Vishnu, the protector of the Universe with 64 kalas who is Bhairav of Mata Bimala Devi (Bhairavi with 64kalas). Lord Vishnu took the form of Jagannath in the 11 th century, Adi Shankaracharya times to give an opportunity for the people of this Kaliyug to do service to His Lotus feet, and thus to wash away few of our sins. Actually according to Skanda Purana, Odia Mahabharata and Manika Panjika, it is mentioned that Lord Jagannath is the 9th Avatar of Lord Vishnu instead of Gautam Buddha.
The holy land of Odisha is divided into four kshetras as per Rigveda. These kshetras are named after the four names of weapons of Lord Vishnu such as sankha (conch shell), chakra (disc), gada (mace) and padma (lotus). Puri Dham is known as Sankha Kshetra. Bhubaneswar is Chakra Kshetra, Jajpura is Gada Kshetra, and Konark is Padma Kshetra. Sankha or conch shell is one of the Aiyudhas of Lord Vishnu, who resides in the naval or the central part of the Conch shell in the form of Lord Jagannath.
The geographical size of Puri resembles a right oriented conch shell, the ‘Dakshinavarta Sankha’, which is why it is also called the Sankha Kshetra. The Sankha Kshetra covers an area of 10 miles, out of which nearly 40% is submerged under water and the other part which lies above water is of the shape of a conch shell or Sankha. The sacred section of puri looks like a conch shell and it is in this section that all the sacred centres like temples, mathas, sacred tanks, trees and various other sacred sites are located.
The Char Dham defined by Adi Shankaracharya consists of two Vaishnavite, one Shaivite, and one mixed site. Geographically the Char Dham makes a perfect square with Badrinath and Rameswaram falling on the same longitude and Dwarka and Puri on the same latitude, representing the farthest north, east, west, and south points of India and four pillars at the time of Adi Shankara. During his extensive tour throughout India, he also established Mathas in those four places dedicated to the research and preservation of four Vedas. Jyotir Matha as an example at Badrinath, was assigned the task of maintaining and preserving of Atharv Veda. Sharada Matha at Dwaraka was assigned the task of maintaining and preserving the Sam Veda. Sringeri Matha at Sringeri hills in the South India was assigned the task of Yajur Veda and Govardhan Matha at Puri was assigned the task of Rig Veda.
From Rigveda; Tantra as a part which expands (vipula) on matters relating to essence (arthan) of philosophy (tattva) and mantra that help to attain liberation. Tattva is the study of the Absolute principle. Tantra brings the realization of tattva (tat=That) within ones experience, with the help of Mantra-Sadhana. Tantra is therefore an intuitional wisdom that liberates. At the same time, it is said, devotion and complete surrender is the secret of Tantra Sadhana. And, it is characterized by high regard, implicit obedience and unquestioned faith. Thousand years before our ancestors know about Kamasutra (84 vers) and display outer wall of all Kalinga Culture (the Rigveda Culture) you can see Puri Jagannath temple, Bhubaneswar Lingaraj Temple and Konark Sun Temple.
We still have a lot of good people trying to do good and stay on the path of righteousness. When there is complete anarchy and the evil will feel that it has no opposition, then Lord Kalki will come. All the avatars of Vishnu came to save mankind; the Mother Earth. Kaliyug is mainly ruled by rahu who is karak of material world or illusion world along with ketu (the spiritual). Lord Jagannath (illusions master of the world) is the most mysterious and controller of Rahu and ketu. Actually the motive of Lord Jagannath is to bring Peace among people and show that God is neither doesn’t have any shape nor has any shape. Now it is up to the devotees to interpret with their own views. Jay Jagannath
  • In Giving A Gift, I Received The Biggest Gift Of Gurudev’s Blessings

In the year 2016, I came to know that Gurudev will be coming to Gujarat for Diwali (a Hindu mega festival) celebrations. My heart leaped with joy. I had an intense longing to meet Him personally and offer him a gift. I shared my desire with my Art of Living teacher and she told me “Take Sankalpa (an intention to do a good deed backed by a strong willpower) and you will surely get to meet Him”. I went to Ahmedabad to attend the event. Gurudev came on the Darshan ramp. Now, I could give the gift to a volunteer standing nearby who would have forwarded it to Gurudev. However, my heart still wanted to present this gift to Him personally so I just watched Gurudev and decided to instead go to Vasad (Art of Living Ashram in Gujarat),

where His next event was scheduled. Just before I was about to leave for Vasad, I was told that my bus has been cancelled! I was heart-broken. I returned to my home and prayed to Gurudev “Either I will gift this to You personally or I’ll keep it with me forever “. As always, Gurudev had His own wonderful plans for me. On the very next day, my father received a call from his friend informing him that Gurudev would be coming to ‘Atmiya Dham’ (an Ashram in Gujarat belonging to the Swaminarayan sect). My father quickly came to me with the news. I was overjoyed and in my excitement I did a full round of “Garba”! (a Gurjarati folk dance). Upon reaching Atmiya Dham, none of the security guards stopped us. As soon as we approached the event hall, we saw Gurudev taking a session exclusively with the Art of Living teachers. Since none of us were teachers, we decided to wait outside. As soon as the session ended, Gurudev came out and I rushed towards Him but a volunteer stopped me. Gurudev got in the car waiting for Him and started moving. My heart skipped a beat but my Sankalpa was strong. The car passed near us. I looked at Gurudev and He opened the car’s door! I rushed towards Him, gave Him the gift personally and touched His feet. He also gave shawl to my parents! I can never forget this day in my life. It was the most beautiful miracle. In giving a gift to Him, I have received the biggest gift of His blessings. The Guru is always there, every time, taking care of you. Take Sankalpa and surrender. He is listening and He has his own ways to meet you. Have Faith and Keep moving on the Path. With lots of Love and Gratitude.

  • The whole world is mine

  • Asplenium nidus commonly known as the Bird's nest fern

It is so common to see this fern in Singapore, commonly growing as an epiphyte, nested between tree branches.

Asplenium nidus commonly known as the Bird’s nest fern has its name’s origin to the words
Asplenium, meaning without spleen and is usually a reference for the fern to cure spleen ailments. The species nidus (meaning nest) gives reference to the common name “Bird’s Nest Fern” as it means “Nest-of-fledglings”.
Asplenium nidus forms large simple fronds visually similar to banana leaves, with the fronds growing to 50–150 cm long and 10–20 cm broad. They are light green, often crinkled, with a black midrib, and exhibit circinate vernation. Spores develop in sori on the underside of the fronds.
The leaves of this fern are edible and the infusion of the leaves has been used to ease labor pains and the lotion obtained from the leaves has been known to be used to treat fever. This information is not meant to be substituted for medical advice. Always consult a medical professional regarding any medical problems and before undertaking any major dietary changes.
The fern is mainly grown as an ornamental plant. It is easy to grow in moist environment with moderate water and sun /semi-shade.

  • Guru kripa kevalam

Few years ago we devotees from Bharuch, Gujarat were going to Ahmedabad for Dhanlakshmi Homa and Satsang with Gurudev, in tempo traveller bus.

But on Express Highway, our bus broke down and we were nowhere to go as we were in between the Express way. Driver called the help line and also his mechanic friend from Anand, but all this was going to take time and everyone wanted to reach the venue on time. So we decided to stop the buses of GSRTC so that we can reach Abad and then we can go by taxis, but getting lift was in vain 20 minutes passed and no halt of any vehicle then we prayed, “Guruji help”.

He dropped us just in front of the venue.

  • To Success Through Failures

It was the seventh semester of the 4 year B.tech (CSE) programme. Every student was preparing to get a job and be placed somewhere. My plans were pretty much the same. A 15 day placement practice class was introduced by the authority, which would benefit the students in getting well prepared for the corporate world. It was in the month of September when “Cognizant Technology Solutions” came to my university for placements. The process took three days and there were 3 rounds post which 600 students were selected from the 1900 odd seekers.

I got rejected in the second round itself while quite a few of my friends landed in the final round and got placed as well. It was extremely disheartening for me at that time, as I was very enthusiastic about getting a job. I felt the same way as one would feel when there is a celebration everywhere and you are not a part of it. But the Art of Living knowledge points were like a hero to me that time, which made me strong. Expectations from parents and sympathy from friends is enough to make anyone a stressful zombie. But doing Sadhna and listening to knowledge is the only support you can rely upon. A month had passed, waiting for the next good company. Meanwhile I sat for two placement drives, “HP” and “Syscom coorporations”, but got rejected at both. Finally the day came when “HCL Technologies” visited the University, in November. I just sat for it with the hope to get another experience. The drive arrived with a five round selection process. Since I had already been through many interview rounds, no more preparation was required at this stage, so I just went for it, with immense hope and faith in my heart. I cleared the first round, and was ready for the second one, which was Group Interaction with 15 students at a time. This round was called the Rejection round. It started with an introduction of all the students. At my turn, I gave a basic summary of myself and my background, after which, all of a sudden, Sri Sri’s Iraq visit came to my mind. I then went on to telling the interviewer that I belonged to the largest volunteer-based NGO, “The Art Of Living” , and instantly a big smile came on my face and I automatically got relaxed. I spoke confidently and fluently about all the Seva projects that I had been a part of in the last one year. I spoke continuously for over 10 minutes, and the interviewer was listening to the information with great interest, as he knew little about Sri Sri Ravi Shankar. After that round, 4 out of the 15 students were taken further, and to my pleasant surprise, I was a part of that 4. I was then told to wait for the Technical and HR rounds. I prayed to my Master saying “May the best happen!”; and my faith worked. I cleared both the rounds and was successfully placed with HCL Technologies. This was truly a miracle! Having gone through numerous failures, success tasted even sweeter. But it was only with the support of my Master that I could survive all the failures. Thank you Gurudev:) Sri Sri says: “Relax and you will find that everything is falling in the right place. Anything that bothers you, just drop it here. Send it to me. I am with you”. Jai Guru Dev.

  • Guru’s grace is truly immense.

    – I live in America, and I have been facing a difficulty in breathing from my left nostril since 2 years now, and since last April, my left nostril was totally blocked. I couldn’t relate to what was happening, but in January 2014, my doctor said that it was not normal to have polyps in one nostril only, and it could be something really dangerous, like a type of benign tumour which in rarest cases, can be malignant too. I just could not believe it, as I have always been a healthy person.

I just could not believe it, as I have always been a healthy person.

I became extremely restless and tensed due to this whole situation, but then I took to my last and final resort – I started doing my short Kriya, which I had not done since a long time, and contacted the Art of Living centre faculty in my area and started doing my long Kriya as well. As usual, the Art of Living teachers helped me in strongly facing my situation to a great extent. Meanwhile, I somehow felt very much at ease through this whole chaotic situation, as though there was divine intervention. I kept asking Guruji to give me a sign that He is with me and that I would be fine. Indeed, He gave me those signs, and finally, on 21st April, I got operated. It was a benign tumour and was spreading towards my eye, but by Guru’s grace, the surgery went off really well, without any problem, and I was perfectly normal.

Overall, I am a perfectly healthy person now. All my health issues have settled. Guru’s grace is truly immense. I always feel that no words can describe how He takes care of all of us, one to one. I just wanted to say that I would have been a very miserable person without HIM. I was totally ignorant, but with Him in my life, my life has become meaningful, and I know I can sail through all the ups and downs of life with success and confidence. This is the faith that a Master instils in each and every one of His devotee.
Thank you, Thank you, Thank you for being there for me all the time, Gurudev.

This event happened on 29th August 2020 in Perth, Australia. Me, my husband and 1 of his friends were returning back from ganpati aarti on our way to drop this friend of ours. We 3 were chatting casually while my husband drove the car and very suddenly from nowhere a big van came in front of us in high speed at the traffic lights intersection.

We 3 were chatting casually while my husband drove the car and very suddenly from nowhere a big van came in front of us in high speed at the traffic lights intersection.

The lights were green for us but what was the driver of the van upto, I have no clue. My husband noticed it first and beeped horn but he did not stop and my husband accelerated the car instead of applying breaks. This all happened within fraction of seconds. Because my husband accelerated, we avoided the almost big collision with that van. The van crossed our car from behind. No injuries, not a scratch..everyone was safe. It still gives me goose bumps while I am penning this story. THIS WAS ABSOLUTE GRACE. We all 3 may have sustained big injuries given that both cars were driving at around 70 km/hr. The air bags could have opened given that both cars were at high speed and so close (may be an inch away) Bt Gurudev gave the right insight to my husband and made him take the instant correct action. Now, my husband does not believes in AOL. Regardless of that, I have always continued my kriya and have prayed to Gurudev to lead us both on this path in the journey of life. This incident is only one more way of nature telling me that Gurudev is with His devotees all the time. He is watching over us, taking care of us and will meet our needs. We only have to trust Him with all our heart and connect with him through SADHNA, SEVA AND SATSANG. Jai Guru Dev.

  • All my pain was gone. I was completely healed

The first miracle I experienced with Guruji was during my first Sudarshan Kriya in my Part 1 Course. I’d had an accident in 1998 where I had fractured two bones on my right knee. They had healed well but I had been told by the doctor to avoid sitting on the floor. But being a nursery school teacher I could not avoid sitting on the floor so I had started having a problem with my right leg.If I sat down I could not get up without support. When I joined the Part 1 Course in 2000, I was a bit apprehensive and was under the impression that I couldn’t meditate.

But wonder of wonders after the first Sudarshan Kriya, I was out for almost 35-40 minutes. I was told that was Samadhi meditation. After the Kriya, before I went into meditation,I felt a person’s leg touch mine. All the 45 people in that course were unknown to me. After meditation, as I opened my eyes, a young girl comes up to me and asks me if I have hurt my right knee as Guruji had asked her to heal it. I was shocked as no one there knew about my accident. Apparently this girl’s leg had touched mine after Kriya while lying down. She was form Delhi and had come for a visit to her parent’s home in Mumbai. I then realized I could get up and sit down easily without any support. The second time He healed my leg was one and a half years later. I used to go for morning walks to the RaceCourse. The footpaths were dug up by the BMC. I had twisted my leg a little on the uneven path. A few days later I realised,I had started feeling tiredness when I stood for a while or while walking, and a burning sensation at the base of my right foot. I would also experience some excruciating pain on my right leg that I couldn’t move till the pain would subside. It was painful and horrible. I showed my leg to an Orthopedic and he prescribed a light (rays) treatment and physiotherapy with weights and also suggested an MRI. The MRI report said I had cartilage damage on my right leg for which I had to undergo an expensive treatment. Before the treatment I decided to go to Bangalore for my first Navratri Advance course. I requested my Principal to give me leave for 12 days as I would only miss 4 working days in that fortnight as there were many bank holidays and 2 weekends. But despite requesting her I got leave for only 6 days and I was happy that I could at least do the advance course at the Ashram. In those days I did not know the importance of the last 4 days of Navratri. But the people on the train, which was mainly full of only Maharashtra participants of the advance course happening at the Ashram, told me that the last 4 days of Navratri are very important and powerful. And that people came from all over the world for just those 4 days. But as I had no other alternative I just shrugged it off. As we reached the Ashram, an Art of Living teacher told me for one last time to request my Principal to extend my leave for 5 more days. When I called my Principal, she told me to stay for as long as I wanted as she was managing my class. That by itself was a miracle as a person who was so adamant about not giving me leave had just turned around all of a sudden and told me to stay for as long as I wanted and I am quoting her exact words. The next miracle took place on Ashtami, the 8th day of Navratri. I had worn a new pink salwar kameez. In those days the Yagnashala mandap had a bamboo structure. As I crossed over the bamboo, taking a short cut to my place in the mandap, my churidar tore exactly over my right knee. I was a liitle surprised as the cut was at an exact right angle,1 inch horizontal and 1 inch vertical on the right knee. Normally if a cloth gets torn on a bamboo,it can tear anyhow and can also have a few loose threads dangling but this cut was straight and no loose threads. A few minutes later when Guruji came into the mandap, he looked straight at where I was sitting, despite 20,000 people in the mandap. I was just blank as I was looking at him.A few hours after the pooja, as I got up and walked and later climbed up the stairs in the Ashram,I realised all my pain was gone. I was completely healed. • A Step Towards Infinity

I got introduced to a life that has Sudarshan Kriya, Satsangs, Seva, Knowledge and GURUJI All

You do this course now, and since I am in Bangalore, you come here in December and we will do the Advanced course at the Ashram. It will be amazing!” Pradnya (Me): “Ok Nami :)” That was it. I googled the website of Art of Living, found two phone numbers, called up and signed up for the cours

this while I had just known Sri Sri as the founder of AOL, but now, He had become my personal Guru. You are my Everything. I’m glad, happy, grateful and fortunate that I have a Guru and that is you – Sri Sri. Always so grateful.

I’m doing my Chartered Accountancy this year and on 7th May I had to appear for my Group One Cost Accounting paper in the second shift from 2:00 – 5:00pm. A strange incident happened with me at that time which resulted in strengthening my faith in Sri Sri. On reaching the examination centre, 20kms away from my home, with my mother,

I checked my bag and was shocked to find my Calculator missing. Without a calculator it would not be possible for me to appear for the exam. I informed my mom about the same as there were only 10 minutes left for the exam to begin. We had to arrange for a calculator from somewhere. My mom then took the driver and went, frantically searching for a stationery shop which was not there anywhere in 1.5 km radius. Then she entered a boutique and requested the owner to lend us her personal calculator stating the urgency of the situation but the boutique owner refused to give the calculator as she would need it for her own use in the store. But later, her son came and said that my mom could take the calculator and return it once I was done with my exam. He was sent by Guruji to help me at that helpless moment. Getting help from a stranger is not easy but with the Guru’s Grace, all is possible. My mom then came back running and handed over the calculator to me just two minutes before the exam was to start. It was such a relief for me and I sincerely thanked Guruji in my mind for this much needed help. As I entered the examination hall and reached my seat, to my surprise, I saw that there was a calculator already lying on my desk. This was the same model which I had back home and I was used to using for a long while. I was most comfortable using this model. It was good for me to get this one as my calculations would be way faster with it. I then asked my teacher if she knew who that calculator belonged to but when she asked the class about it, no one raised their hand. Nobody knew how and when that calculator had landed on my desk. Nobody knew from where it had come. But I knew. I knew that my Guru had placed it over there. I knew that He was taking care of all my needs. I knew that He would never let me down. I knew that He was always there for me to look after me like a mother for a child. I then thanked Gurudev once again for His love and kindness and with immense faith in my heart, I started writing my paper. I used the calculator that Gurudev had placed on my desk. He had saved the day-yet again! This was truly a miracle for me. It was a symbol of my Gurus magic and grace in my life. It was my one-of-many miracle stories which I wanted to share with one and all and I certainly look forward to sharing many more Guruji tussi Great ho. Jai Guru Dev.

  • Nothing can be lost in my life when I have found my Master.

For couple of minutes

I was completely clueless as to how I would start my bike as I had already lost the original key 2-3 months back and this one was the only key I had. The essence of this entire episode was that I bumped into the same girl who had my keys standing exactly at the college gate, and she happened to carry the same bag which she had on the day she found my key And then I realised – “Nothing can be lost in my life when I have found my Master.”. • When you let go of your small little desires for a greater good

Awesome Guru Story From Swami Brahmachitt Ji

Me along with few others are blessed to travel with Gurudev in a chartered flight yesterday.
This trip from Bangalore to Bhubaneshwar reinforced Gurudev’s this knowledge point in my mind strongly: “When you let go of your small little desires for a greater good, they automatically gets fulfilled.”
*Awesome Guru Story From Swami Brahmachitt Ji* Me along with few others are blessed to travel with Gurudev in a chartered flight yesterday. This trip from Bangalore to Bhubaneshwar reinforced Gurudev’s this knowledge point in my mind strongly: “When you let go of your small little desires for a greater good, they automatically gets fulfilled.”

    Let me explain:
I had planned to leave from Bangalore ashram on 30th Oct after spending a week there, but as a request to conduct an international Upanayanam course from 2nd – 5th Nov came up, my stay got extended till 5th.
And as Gurudev was leaving for SSU on 7th, the thought came “should I travel to SSU with HIM on 7th! Should I request Gurudev!”
But soon I dropped this plan when I came to know HE is traveling in a chartered plane. I thought there must be few important dignitaries/guests traveling with HIM, and it would be an unnecessary burden if I will ask Gurudev to take me along.
So I booked a 6th Nov 4:05 pm flight to Bhubaneshwar through Sumeru travel. Just 4 hours before the departure, around 12 noon, me and Swami Jaatveda ji were in Gurukul to have Ganapati temple darshan, we saw Gurudev there in a program. We both went there, and when HE was leaving in his car, I informed him: “Gurudev I am leaving now!”
He asked me: How are you going?
Me: I have a 4:00 pm flight Gurudev.
He: You talk to Kartik(his secretary), and come with me tomorrow.
And thus I got my 2nd chartered flight trip with Gurudev.Always grateful
  • Such is the Grace and Love of my beloved Master

“Not a single scratch on my body despite such a steep fall! It was a moment of reckoning, a feeling of deep gratitude was all I felt”.

Way back in 2004, when I was this teenager in grade 11, I went through a phase of doubt and questioning of my faith in Gurudev. I would think that the miracle stories that I heard were perhaps some kind of far fetched imagination or a strategy.

One day, while reading the book ‘Sri Sri as I Know Him’ that has a collection of personal experiences and anecdotes on Gurudev, I had a discussion with my mother as she was leaving to conduct an Art of Living Happiness Course. I told that if “her” Guru really has the power I have been reading about, I want him to prove it to me in whatever way. For some reason, the conviction in my challenge was so intense as though wanting to reinforce my faith in the Divine through this.

And what followed, was truly a miracle, a defining moment in my life. Our home which was on the ground floor was under renovation and we had construction material lying in the veranda along with two massive glass panels. We also had sheds on the ground floor which were weak considering the property being almost 50 years old or so.

One day, the lady who resided on the second floor, accidentally dropped a blanket on the sheds. She requested me to help her and here I was standing on the second floor and struggling with a stick to somehow push the blanket down to the compound. In all my enthusiasm to help, I
lost my balance and fell off right through the sheds into the heap of construction material and landed on the glass panels.

Here I was trapped amidst the construction material, with glass pieces all over me including broken shed portions. I was in a state of shock and went blank. My neighbours rushed to my rescue attempting to pull me out amidst fears that I may be dead considering the graveness of the mishap.

A few minutes later, I was rescued and to everyone’s amazement, no bones broken nor any injury. I was fully conscious and not a single scar on my body.

Not a single scratch on my body despite such a steep fall. A moment of reckoning, a feeling of deep gratitude was all I felt and it dawned on me – this is the miracle of Grace of Sri Sri, the very proof that my intellect was seeking. Divine intervention had happened that day.

Such is the Grace and Love of my beloved Master. I feel blessed and so special to have Him in my life and simply know He is always there to protect me and that I am taken care of each moment that passes by.

  • Angel In Disguise

My family and I came to the US just a few days back. As we were new to the place, there were a lot of apprehensions in mind, which were causing me a lot of tension and stress. But this was a part of travelling to a new place, so I accepted it and surrendered all my fears to Gurudev. The next day of our stay, my 2.5 year old son had to be dropped to his Day Care Centre, before I and my husband would head to complete our work.

But this was a part of travelling to a new place, so I accepted it and surrendered all my fears to Gurudev. The next day of our stay, my 2.5 year old son had to be dropped to his Day Care Centre, before I and my husband would head to complete our work.

This Centre was around 5-6 miles away from our home, but since we were new to the city, we were not aware of the routes, and were not able to locate the Centre. So my husband took some assistance from the GPS on his mobile phone. At the time, we didn’t have a car and my husband was using his bicycle to drop my son. In spite of trying for a while, he still wasn’t able to find the route and seemed to have lost his way. After about 1 hour, when I called my husband, he was still on the road, with no clue of the way. This news really got me worked up. I wanted to help my husband, but knew not how to, as I myself did not know the ways well. So I decided to pray to my Master and seek for help. This was my only resort in this helpless situation. I did my Kriya, with hope and faith in my heart. I then sincerely prayed to Guruji and pleaded Him to show my husband the right path. It had been just about 15 minutes since all this, and to my pleasant surprise, I got a call from my husband and he told me that just a few minutes back the Patrol Police had stopped by to ask him if he needed any help. Not only did the Officer drop my son and husband to the school on his jeep, but also gave his number on which we could call any time, in case of emergency. WOW! He sent us the much-needed Help in the form of the Patrol Police! What Amazing Grace. And at such a perfect time! The beauty of a miracle is when it happens at just the right time, it feels like BLISS☺ Such is the Grace of our beloved Guruji. He is always there for us. We are really blessed to have a living God with us, in the form of a Guru. Thank you Gurudev.

  • Grace that He showers us with. Miracles do happen.

Guruji’s presence in my life has always been so unspectacular, yet, always so profound and deep. His grace in my live is immeasurable and yet so subtle. Recently, after a very hectic schedule of late nights and early mornings, we (my wife, my 4 year old daughter and I ) were returning from Dubai to Abu Dhabi after attending Rishi Vidhyadharji’s morning Sadhana. In about 10 minutes from the time I actually touched the Dubai-Abu Dhabi highway, I started feeling sleepy. As Priyanka, my wife and Avni, my daughter, too were tired, they dozed off a little later and I kept driving to be on time for a meeting at Abu Dhabi.

As Priyanka, my wife and Avni, my daughter, too were tired, they dozed off a little later and I kept driving to be on time for a meeting at Abu Dhabi.

After some time, I said to Priyanka that she should talk to me as I was feeling sleepy. She suggested that I should stop at one of the petrol pumps and rest there for few minutes but as there was no petrol pump nearby, I had to keep going until I could find one. I finally found one and came close to the exit. However just before taking the exit, my eyes closed for few seconds and when they opened, I realised that I had missed the exit. In a sudden state of shock, I took a right turn at the high speed of 120 kmph, and missed entering the exit again, while on my foolish effort to enter the petrol pump’s lane, I bumped into a cemented flag post with a full bang on hit. The impact of the collision was so much that it bent the car’s front frame and dashboard. Miraculously, while Avni just fell from Priyanka’s lap, none of us were anywhere hurt. I just had a small scratch due to the hot air bag, on my left wrist. While it took some time to come out of the shock, both Priyanka and I were very grateful that nothing had happened to anyone of us. We called up Rishi Vidhyadharji. He blessed us and said that everything would be taken care of. In minutes, we had an ambulance, traffic police and the emergency car trailer, helping us out of the situation. The police did not put any black mark on my driving license (though it was totally my mistake), the petrol pump manager did not put any fines on me, the ambulance were ready to take us to hospital and we had a taxi coming from no where to pick up Priyanka and Avni to safety. Quite soon, one of our close friends, Prasad, came over to help me with all the formalities.Such a major crash happened, the car was trashed away as the engine got fully damaged, and yet all I had to bear was just a minor scratch, roll out a few thousands for damages and experience tons and tons of Grace in our lives. That accident once again reinforced my Guru’s presence in our lives and the unending Grace that He showers us with. Miracles do happen. With Gratitude and Love.
